Don't know why I need to ask this question - I got dumped yesterday Sad, but for future reference....where does everybody stand on the shaving / waxing issue?

i.e. Once you settle down with somebody, do you still shave / wax everyday, within an inch of your life, or is it acceptable to be a bit stubbley / sandpapery on occasion?

I only ask as I've always been friends with a razor, but I find it takes up too much time that could be better spent entertaining ds / washing / ironing / tidying up / putting the bins out, etc, etc.

but I don't want to be imitating Sherwood Forrest if every other female (and some men too!) are as smooth as a baby's bum.

Could never ask this question in RL and have never been that close to another lady to find out.

I'm thinking of starting a hairy revolution!!

By the way, I'm referring to LEGS here, but thoughts on any other areas will be considered too!

Thank you Wink

Bloody hell DG you must have a nice figure. No way could I wear a top like that with my crinkly tummy Envy

The swimsuit I got is the very first one on the swimwear pages. \link{http://www.laredoute.co.uk\La Redoute} It's called 1-Piece shorty-style swimsuit and I think it's cute and sporty. If you are a new customer you get £10 off so not bad all round.

Daisyb00 · 14/05/2006 20:58

Well thanks for all your advice - I'm begining to feel slightly more normal now!! I don't know who I've been hanging around with since I was a teenager, but I just got the impression that if I didn't shave everything within an inch of its life, I would be some kind of hybrid outcast!!!

The saddest things are
a) I'm fair, so you'd need a magnifying glass to see anything and
b) I live in the north of Scotland, so there is fat chance of me ever being able to get my legs out in the sun without getting frostbite!! Occasionally we get a warm wind and open the lapels of our thermals but that's about it!!! Smile (It's not that bad really!!)

Think I will be investing in some Dove deodorant too!! Blush

for all those who dont ever shave their ladygardens dont your husbands mind if their giving oral sex?

I do mine about once a week

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 21:00

faz

you are a star.

and in black too! Grin

am off to pound my credit card.

alexsmum · 14/05/2006 21:01

why would they once a week?

the fashion of hairless/minimal hair on pubic areas is very recent.have you ever seen deepthroat? very famous porn film? none of the women in that have hairless pubic areas.
i would say it's only in the llast 10 years that that particular fashion has come about.

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 21:02

Interesting, DG, but I feel that the crinkly tummy hanging over the bikini shorts look is not in right now? Grin.

No, I think its better all contained, tbh.

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 21:03

its to sell razors, you mark my words.

at any rate, its unatural and very painful.

PanicPants · 14/05/2006 21:03

I suppose it's a case of once you do it, you have to keep on doing it (iuswim).

Dp isn't impressed when he read the thread so I'm now thinking I could use this to my advantage!

DumbledoresGirl · 14/05/2006 21:04

I thought so too Filyjonk, but I really don't know now.

PanicPants · 14/05/2006 21:05

Filyjonk what about a tankini?

I found that this was better than either a swimsuit or a bikini as the gap between the top and the bottoms breaks up the tummy area so it didn't look so big.

spidermama · 14/05/2006 21:06

I leave well alone personally. I think shaving looks, erm, trashy.
But pay not attention. I'm probably very out of date.

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2006 21:12

Filyjonk, you are welcome :)

Malory will be proud of me when she gets back

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 21:13

ah panicpants, i think you may be estimating the area between tankini and knickers to be broken up. In fact, now I think about it, it looks exactly as though it has been broken up.

We are talking droopy roadkill style stretchmarks here. Thorough containment is the way to go, I feel.

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 21:14

underestimating, even...

nooka · 14/05/2006 21:31

I shave my legs in the summer if I am wearing shorts, or when I take the kids swimming but that's about it. The whole thing seems like such a waste of time to me. Can't shave under my arms as they get very painful (a little bit better with immac, but not much). Have never shaved my ladygarden, but dh went through a phase of enjoying giving me a trim for a while! I'm not quite sure what is supposed to be wrong with hair anyway - I think there is something slightly dodgy about the whole completely smooth thing - isn't that a little "little girl" like IYSWIM? But I do feel self conscious when I am wearing strapless tops, which is a bit stupid. I should go and live in Europe I think!

Daisyb00 · 14/05/2006 21:34

I even shaved while I was pg (it was very awkward, but again, I thought everybody did it!!)
I remember panicing, thinking 'what will the Dr think if I don't'- Can't believe how stupid I was!! Blush
Then, found out at late notice that my Mum was going to be at the birth (who very much believes in leaving everything 'down there' alone)and desperately wished it would all grow back!!
Of course when I actually went into labour it suddenly didn't seem that important!!!

Shave legs about every other day as swim about 4 times a week. If I was blond I probably wouldn't bother. Re: bikini line, those shorts style bottoms are very practical.

crunchie · 14/05/2006 21:46

I have got into wax after 36 years of swearing I never would!! I do my legs about once a month - 6 weeks, TBH they are not too bad in between as it gets hot, they go blond so can't be seen! I do underarms when I notice them , about once a week and bits about every coulple of weeks, usually immac there though. I would never dream of shaving every day!

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 23:03

I like the idea that shaving looks trashy.

I am going to try and work on that in my head.

I don't want to look trashy.

And I find regrowth painful.

Filyjonk · 14/05/2006 23:07

onceaweek I feel I must point out that you have used "their" in place of "they're".

PanicPants · 15/05/2006 08:52

Filyjonk - in that case you may be right!

Tried not to shave in the shower this morning, but just couldn't do it. I'm going to the gym today for the first time so that means I had to do my legs and underarms Blush

Can't believe noone else shaves everyday like me - might have to do it every other day now. Trouble is the first day regrowth stubble feels horrible so I give in and shave it.

Filyjonk · 15/05/2006 14:28

take it slowly, pp, one day at a time.

soon you will be as lazy as the rest of us.

it will be worth it.

(I wear yoga trousers and a t shirt to the gym, but maybe thats cos I'm not applying myself hard enough)

jellyjelly · 15/05/2006 14:35

I shave pits every couple of days. legs about once a week to once a fortnight and immac every 5 days or so.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 15/05/2006 14:37

I shave everyday PP!
