I suppose our living room is small, but i am sick to death of tidying it up to then look again, and it's back to the way it was. GRRRRRRRRr. Just wondered if anyone else found this. Smile

Always! DH asked the children to tidy-up before coming to the table this evening. We had only finished doing just that before starting to prepare the meal! It never ends!

rayofsunshine · 11/05/2006 07:49

hiya

Ooooh its not just you, i have the same problem there, although DS has just started to put the toy he was playing with away b4 he gets a new toy out to play with, so hopefully im beginning to the crack the problem. :-)

Daisymae · 11/05/2006 07:55

Don't just blame the children!! DP has been away on a course and just popped in for one night. I spent ages tidying up both house and myself; now DP just departed and house in chaos around me. It's too early to contemplate checking a mirror!!

I think it's the knowledge of the sheer on-going, unremitting treadmill of attempting to resist the landslide of toys, books, bits of games, paper, odd socks, cups etc that wears you down.

Though it would help if I could throw anything away!! Smile

Tortington · 11/05/2006 08:10

nope - my kitchen looks like a bombs hit it every evening.

shellybelly · 11/05/2006 08:40

I hate my lounge at the moment, it is a fair size but it has the computer desk, a playpen, hideous big sofas and a horrible carpet oh and toys everywhere!! but i'm stuck with it till we get our extension done Sad but thats only a few months away Grin

babyonboard · 11/05/2006 08:47

actually no - our kitchen, bedroom and bathroom get messy very fast but the living room always stays tidy..not sure why!
(well apart from toys everywhere but they don't count..they are invisible!heeheehe)

PinkKerPlink · 11/05/2006 08:47

mine is unt5idy too

hth

fullmoonfish · 11/05/2006 08:48

All the time, TF. Today is my only day off. The sun is shining, I want to go to my allotment and be green and wholesome. But my living room floor is covered in rice crispies, there are cushions and throws all over the place as the kids were up early and having a lovely game (!), piles of paperwork which need dealing with, empty cups hither and thither and more dust than a convention of dandruff-sufferers po-going in an antiquarian bookshop !

mummyhill · 11/05/2006 08:50

All the time TF the only problem is now my eldest is able to go up and down stairs on her own the mess is spreading to the rest of the house too god alone knows what it will be like when ds becomes mobile too.

Skribble · 11/05/2006 09:21

My living room is also an office/ craft room/ dining room and laundry storage area. Hence it is a total tip, the kids are old enough that toys are banned but that doesn't seem to help. I don't know when the table was last clear and at the last count there are 5 assorted boots and shoes belonging to DH, FGS there are another 4 pairs outside in the hall.

Any flat surface seems to be used as a storage area for what ever he has in his hand when he comes in th door arghh!!!

tinyFox · 11/05/2006 09:47

The most annoying this is that i'm waiting for a tv stand that my aunty has got and have been waiting since xmas, so my tv is on a coffee table, The coffee table is getting cut up to make a top for a computer table, so my pc is on the floor so even if i do tidy up, you look in the corner it's awful. Also have shoes, dirty kids clothes, old pc, cat bowls, dog bed. You name it i got it, lol. But makes me feel better that i'm not the only one. Grin

I just googled de-cluttering tips and have just vowed to have a major clear out....tomorrow.

actually I might try\link{http://www.lifeorganizers.com/clutter/get-rid-of-clutter.htm\De-clutter 1 hour}
or {\link{http://www.lifeorganizers.com/clutter/tackle-clutter.htm\tackle the clutter}.

But I must go for a shower, pick up MIL, go to supermarket, take MIL to dentist, take her and aunty to lunch, pick up kids, do a wash, empty dishwasher, fill dishwasher, do some work on computer (no not MN), make dinner, clear up dinner etc etc etc.......

So maybe de-clutter tomorrow is best Grin.

tinyFox · 11/05/2006 09:58

OHHH thats inspired me to do something about it today. thanks for them. Good luck for tommorow!!!

When I read the thread title, I thought tinyFox was owning up to messing up our living room! Who is it then?

gscrym · 11/05/2006 12:54

Once DS is in bed and DH is out, my living room is tidy. Then the midden-fairies come in and trash the place overnight.

Skribble · 11/05/2006 22:07

WOw I have midden fairies too Grin. Well unfortunatly tomorrow nevr came Sad.

BTW if anybody mentions flylady I will scream!!!!!

UCM · 12/05/2006 03:35

I carried home loads of cardboard boxes this morning (nicked from outside newsagents) as I have decided that we have too much clutter at home. So I am going to be ruthless and boot sale everything I can. Today is the day for me. Wish me luck

UCM · 12/05/2006 03:36

Who is flylady Skribs Grin

Skribble · 12/05/2006 20:18

Some mad american thing that involves sending you hundreds of e.mails telling you to put on you shoes and shine your sink Angry.

I'm sure some one who is a fan will pipe up, I woud do a link but I don't want to encourage work of the devil Grin.

all4girlz · 12/05/2006 21:17

hi tf
no you are not alone
mine is tidy for about two minutes a day if lucky
crumbs clothes dirty washing seem to appear out of nowhere no matter how many times I sweep up pick up tidy up---- aarghh

there is always one chair with clutter on and the dinig table isnever clear despite my best efforts!!

UCM · 13/05/2006 12:27

well I filled 2 boxes, yesterday so I hardly set the world alight with my decluttering, I kept coming on here.Today I can't be arsed.

2ManyPimms · 13/05/2006 15:56

If you could see the state of my house, you wouldn't feel so bad about your lounge!!! :o
