I suppose our living room is small, but i am sick to death of tidying it up to then look again, and it's back to the way it was. GRRRRRRRRr. Just wondered if anyone else found this. Smile

It's just you.

NOT!!! Grin

I live in as a shit pit. I clean it regularly but tidy it aint.. and aint never gonna be! I'd rather have kids than a tidy house.

Filyjonk · 13/05/2006 16:57

No, its not just you.

But really, with kids, how could it be otherwise?

Sometimes I think, would I rather live in a nice clean house without fingerprints and peanut butter sandwiches down the back of the sofa...or have 2 lively, happy children?

(I usually give the correct answer to that one)

I think mess and kids go together. I know one person who has a house that looks like a show home but that is only because her kids arent allowed any toys downstairs at all. I would rather have the mess in the front room and be able to keep an eye on my kids than have a lovely tidy room but not know what they are getting up to upstairs, especially ds2 who only the other day decided that it would be funny to smear my expensive moisturiser over his face and then spray hairspray in his mouth.

I do look forward to the day when ds2 no longer plays with toys, maybe then i will have my front room back Grin

Friend of mine called her utility room the Futility Room which sort of sums it all up really.

Skribble · 13/05/2006 22:51

I really like the idea of a utility/ futility room I could get rid of loads of the living room mess to there.

How bad are all you living rooms, I mean do you stop people visiting, don't let the kids friends in, shut the curtains when the windwe cleaners there, tell the meter reader he can't come in, conduct police interviews on the doorstep??? How bad is it come on spill the beans perhaps we should put pics in the profiles thread Grin Blush.

yes our whole flat is small and it never really gets tidy, too much stuff

I dream of having a Futility room

I do get a bit arsey about keeping the living room tidyish - we have an open plan type cottage type house and I get to the point where I want to sit somewhere comfy with a cup of tea without having to shift a baby born doll or a tea set combo thingy plastic do dah before I can even grab a minute infront of cbeebies. Also, front door leads virtually straight into living room as do stairs so have to keep route fairly clear (could just nick some cones from A1...)

Mine doesn't. My children are banned - oh yes indeedy - from my grown up lounge. They've got a huge lounge of their very own to trash!
