as i love them to come to my house and do my house up as ive got no character (apart from my living room when we had money) in any of them rooms

(or in any of the other DIY programmes)

God no, but I'd love it if they would come, although 60 minutes wouldn't be enough to do up this place!!

Carmenere · 06/05/2006 10:08

The only reason that this programme would appeal to me is because they use really quality, expensive stuff. That said they just couldn't possibly do a decent job in just one hour.

waterfalls · 06/05/2006 10:10

You have to pay though dont you? its normally around £20k before labour charges.

Carmenere · 06/05/2006 10:12

No way? they did a council house with a family of ten the other day there is no way they would have had a spare 20 grand.

biglips · 06/05/2006 10:12

waterfalls - im not sure if you DO have to pay? as you do enter in their competition but whether its for free to do your house up

And they make a big deal of mentioning the suppliers of the stuff they use so I'm sure it is free.

biglips · 06/05/2006 11:37

hmm i wonder!

but the standard of finish must be cr*p. They don't let anything dry before applying the next coat or dressing the room up. Also they just paint over patterned paper rather than strip it. Wonder how long the "tea break" really is too -perhaps allowing just a little extra time on top for catching up or drying ?

threelittlebabies · 06/05/2006 13:32

I applied, but they didn't ring me back. Bitches Grin

Ledodgyherring · 06/05/2006 13:38

No you don't have to pay. I'd love mine done as they do put in some great furniture but i'd only want one of the designers they have doing mine as some of them are terrible and if you mention you go to france on holiday you end up with bonjour printed all over your kitchen walls Grin

biglips · 06/05/2006 19:51

i dont care if the paint didnt dry properly Grin as i want them in MY house esp with that scottish designer fella (i think hes gay but hes fab!!!)

Agree lots of expensive gear but finishes are a bit crap and in some instances really crap.

Moomin · 07/05/2006 10:47

LOL ledodgyredherring!
i think i'm too much of a control freak with decor to let anyone else have a go. but at least like someone said before on 60MM they use proper quality stuff. some of the stuff i've seen done on the crappy bbc one that used to be on in the mornings was terrible. wot was it called? justin and colin used to do it in the olden days

kid · 07/05/2006 10:50

I applied for it, they emailed me but I was in the process of moving so didn't bother replying. I'm sure its all free.
I'd love them to come and do my house now, as long as I didn't have to be filmed.

Skribble · 07/05/2006 11:01

Yes minus the film crew would be great or at least no before shots Grin.

1st ever post, here goes!
I had 'big strong boys' do my house a couple of years ago. I always wondered how they did it and some of it is a right con :)They paid for stuff but budget sadly not as big as 60 second makeover. Some of their work is still standing to this day!

Carmenere · 07/05/2006 12:19

Wellcome Shera Grin

SheRa · 07/05/2006 12:27

Aw thanks, I feel all loved! Grin

hub2dee · 07/05/2006 12:34

Was Andy, ahem, handy ?

Wink
SheRa · 07/05/2006 12:38

It wasn't Andy but two guys called Jake & Gavin and Gavin was lets say, very easy on the eye...

hub2dee · 07/05/2006 13:30

LOL. I think I've got my TV-chippies mixed up.

Skribble · 07/05/2006 22:47

Well they all have muscles in the right places Grin Blush.

cod · 07/05/2006 22:48

sow hat was the con then

brimfull · 07/05/2006 22:50

tell us more shera, what was a con?

MrsSpoon · 07/05/2006 22:59

What was the con???

Agree with the others. Always think the finish on 60 min makeover must be appalling, however they do put in some flash stuff.
