Brilliant emmatmg!!!!!!

SoupDragon · 20/01/2004 14:33

Having looked at the picture, making New Strawberry smaller wouldn't be a problem. However, if his eyes and mouth are embroidered on, they are going to look too big in his new smaller face. How much smaller does he need to be?

And what size strawberry are we meant to be searching for? I can't remember!

futurity · 20/01/2004 14:37

I have been following this but sorry if what i am about to suggest has already been mentioned. How about, after alterations have been made, instead of doing a bit "look who we've got!" and holding of breath that you let her "find" the new one. (maybe just leave it amongst a toy box or something?) That way she may not analyse it as much as if you make a big thing of returning it to her??

collision · 20/01/2004 15:05

Has anyone else's dh said 'This has gone too far now? Enough......just give her the new Strawberry and tell her that he has put on weight and be done with it!!!!'

Just wondered..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dkdad · 20/01/2004 15:46

skie

Is this the same contact details as you have for Peeko:

PEEKO-New Manhattan Ent.Ltd.
100 Market Street
GB - Douglas/Isle of Man
Tel: 07034/31541
Fax: 31540

codswallop · 20/01/2004 16:06

Ditto collision

ds3 has an unused rabbit and cat that ds1 and 2 rejected when there originals were lost.

It wont work regardless.

Demented · 20/01/2004 18:51

I quite like either the Mummy idea or Mears' idea of saying that it is another strawberry who needs love. It's worth a try!

SoupDragon · 20/01/2004 19:12

Have you tried this, from 192.com? They're apparently toy & game manufacturers.

PEEKO & POPPY WORLD LTD.
1-5 HARDINGE ROAD
ASHFORD KENT
TN248HB
01580 291 546

Hulababy · 20/01/2004 19:14

I like the idea of another poor little strawberry who is lost and needs a new mummy type of idea too. Is that kind of thing likely to appeal to your DD?

popsycal · 20/01/2004 20:57

oh no - just caught up with this!

ponygirl · 20/01/2004 22:35

Hi Skie - more Peeko information! I just glanced down at one of my daughter's cuddly toys and saw that it had a label that said Peeko! On the back it says "Designed in England manufactured in China on Peeko expertise under the supervision of Peeko technicians and quality controllers". This is actually a new toy (Christmas-time), a present from my aunt, so I could find out where she got it from and maybe the toyshop will know how to contact them. And/Or, I have some friends in China who might be able to find them. Would any of this be helpful or am I just getting hysterical?

ponygirl · 20/01/2004 22:52

I think I must be hysterical. I've emailed my friends in China anyway. Mind you, they've just had their second baby 6 weeks early, so they may be too busy to pick up the yellow pages (or whatever). Or their email, come to that. Still, worth a try !

Ayz · 20/01/2004 23:45

hello, been a while but i read most of messages. Strawberry had been away for a long time, and as most people on holiday, he will have put on weight!! So u should tell dd, that thats what has happened. Im sure she will understand that wont she??

Furball · 21/01/2004 08:44

Could you not hide Strawberry in the food cupboard with a few crumbs on, then you could ask dd to get something from the cupboard and strawberry would be hiding in there having put on a few lbs due to stuffing it's face in the biscuit tin.

skie · 21/01/2004 09:13

Thanks again so much for all your help!
The isle of man no and address doesn't exist anymore, but I'll try the Kent one now!
All I can say is, if you ever see one anywhere then please contact me.. Apart from that, you've all done more than enough. Truly amazing bunch...

mears · 21/01/2004 09:51

If you have no joy contacting the company then please say that you will give her the strawberry you have. You just don't know....she could be delighted...

ghengis · 21/01/2004 09:53

Lol Furball

Carla · 21/01/2004 09:57

Skie

Don't keep us all in suspense!

emkaren · 21/01/2004 10:00

I agree with mears, skie, it's worth a try: Give her the one you have now, PLEASE! Ok, she wasn't interested in the bigger model before - but then she still had the original one then! And the fact that the loveheart only made her more sad doesn't mean she won't be pleased with Strawberry. Hide him somewhere where she can 'accidentally' find him - maybe she'll never notice the difference? Or go with the Mummy story after all? Just try something - it can't be any worse than it is now, can it? God, I can't believe how strongly I feel about this!

Rhubarb · 21/01/2004 13:32

We all could print off the picture of the strawberry and post it up where we live with a huge WANTED sign above its head. But we would need to know the height so that we don't get the bigger ones.
You never know, someone, somewhere must have one and if we all did our bit, they might get to know about this!

skie · 21/01/2004 14:09

His body is about 5 and a half inches long, and 5 and a half inches wide. He is exactly the same one Emma had - Peeko on the label - but they made lots of different sizes! (Ours was the smallest).
I know you all want me to give the other one to DD - and I'm more desperate than anyone to end this thing happily! It's just that I have a feeling that the sight of it will make her miss strawberry more, not less! Honestly, she's seen other models that are similar and her reaction has been quite upsetting and I'm not sure whether to risk it! IF we never find an identical one, I'd like her to have the bigger one some day in the distant future, when she is no longer upset by the whole thing!
I'm sure you're all completely sick of this, so feel free to leave the thread! I'd never had made such an effort for any other toy - dd2 doesn't have any such MAJOR attachments and dd1 has lost other beloved toys too (I remember a black panther she left in France) but we didn't go to any lengths to replace them. It's just that this toy, this 'boy', was so mixed up with who she was/ is - and after three months, she was/is still finding the loss upsetting... HOWEVER, you've all done so much - if you ever find one..CALL ME... but otherwise THANKS !

mears · 21/01/2004 14:17

Hope you manage to find your happy ending skie. You get kind of carried away on mumsnet sometimes and forget the original issue. You wanted an exact replacement and not advice on how to introduce a similar one. Only you know your child and what their response would be - not us faceless mumsnetters.
Please let us know how you get on a bit further down the line and hope you don't feel harrassed by us

Ayz · 23/01/2004 14:50

Has dd got strawberry back in her arms yet or not??

Demented · 24/01/2004 10:47

Was just thinking about strawberry. Any news??? Or is it a definate no-no?
