Please list

What you use?
Whats good about it?
Whats bad about it?

Just the three things so I can make an educated decision.

St tropez good natural color but smells like old coppers(coins not policemen)fake bake is a good colour but I always feel 'fake 'with it for the first few days. But I love fake tan and am a bit of an addict

vickiyumyum · 18/04/2006 19:59

i love saint tropez as well, but have same gripe about it, that it stinks! another good one is the clarins gel one, it gives a nice natural colour and is even no matter how crap you are at applying it. its the only one that i actually put on my face!

hermykne · 18/04/2006 20:00

just read somewhere recently that st tropez, fake bake and fantasy tan are the top 3.
plus with fantasy tan there are ten finishes!! like shimmer, mate, etc as well as the depth of colour choice.
goingto get it done next week for my birthdya

Have just bought the Dove summer body or whatever it is called, sort of fake tan & moisturisers. Very impressed, really good colour and only moderately stinky with minimal streaking as long as you do a proper rub in. It needs a couple of applications to build up a decent colour, but I prefer that as then it seems to look more natural.

Piffle · 18/04/2006 20:53

Have used and would recommend
For decent good coloured deeper tan
Fantasy spray tan (dignity out the window paper knickers and salon bird spraying you)and St Tropez.
For lighter tan Decleor sunrise or Clarins.

Johnsons summer moisturiser with light tanning is SHITE yellowing grim grim grim.

Moondog · 18/04/2006 20:55

I had a prof. applied St Tropez about 5 days ago.
Didn't think much to it. Looks fake, and colours scars very deeply so they showup even more.

Always used st tropez in the past but this year I'm using virgin vie, I love it, cheaper than st tropez and very evenand nateral loving.

Doesn't smell bad either :)

jmum6 · 18/04/2006 20:58

looking not loving!

mosschops30 · 18/04/2006 21:00

i quite fancy that loreal sublime mist on the tv advert, looks easy she just stands there and sprays it on no rubbing and looks fab.

Hmmmm wonder if its like that in real life !!! Me thinks not

Am watching this with interest, love the idea of fake tan but am equally scared of it.

nikkie · 19/04/2006 10:32

I was just thinknig last night is it tooearly to look brown.
I had spray tans last year, just made me feel bettter at first about wearing shorts etc

Twinkie1 · 19/04/2006 10:48

Am using the johnsons one at the moment thats mixed with a moisturiser - is going well if use the light one and apply each night after exfoliating everywhere - I like it because it doesn't smell and is very light so builds up gradually rather than going orange all at once and everyone noticing and is nice as a moisturiser too.

mosschops I go to a sunbed salon every now and again

I use johnsons fake tan but dont think fake or spray tan are very good
no matter how much you exfoliate there are still streaks or white patches

but saying that they are safer than sunbeds though

Piffle · 19/04/2006 11:18

Well I had decleor applied yesterday and it's a gorgeous light colour, very natural no streaks anywhere :)

pepperpots · 19/04/2006 11:25

Ambre solaire No streak bronzer (Spray)
As long as you exfoliate and moisturise there are no streaks or patches at all (and before i used it i was a fake tan virgin Grin )
Downside is that the next day it smells a little, nothing horrible but as soon as you wash it goes

curlysmum · 19/04/2006 13:06

I used 'it's real' the one by Patsy Palmer 'RICKY' its for fair skinned people and is very good . I read that alot of people recommended it, its sold at Boots bigger stores.

wabbitintheheadlamps · 20/04/2006 06:01

Johnsons Summer Skin or whatever it's called - I'm fairly sallow skinned already so use the darker skin tones one - have only done one application of the night time moisturiser and can see a really noticable difference... still has that pong to it like all the other fake tans i've used but less streaky... I am surprised your supposed to apply this stuff frequently, if I did I'd look orange!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 20/04/2006 06:02

Ooooooops Blush *you're

scarymamma · 20/04/2006 08:01

I've used L'Oreal Sublime Bronze gel for the last 5 years. It was recommended by the girl who used to do my nails.

:) It's easy to apply, produces a natural colour & is cheap as chips cf StT.
:( Stinks! Stains clothes/carpets and you need to wear gloves to stop Tango hands - But the're all the same!

JonesTheSteam · 20/04/2006 08:20

Using the Dove one - on my third application. A couple of slight streaks this am - but noticeable only if you're looking for them (which I was!!!!)

Smells OK too - slight 'fake tan' overtones, but nowhere near as strong as the Johnson's one I used last year - that was horrid!!!)
