I know this has been done so many times before, but I think it is well overdue for a reminder.

Please, please everyone get people to make sure they are on the \link{http://www.uktransplant.org.uk\Transplant Register}.

And if you can put up posters, leaflets ANYWHERE, then click the link for free promo material too.

Bumping this again.

The dd of a Mner (lucyep) has been on the list now since Christmas - she so needs her new heart.

And Misdee's dh, Peter needs his too.

Please think about signing up if you haven't already and talk to your loved ones about it so they know you mean it.

Thank you!

up you go again. I am guessing by lack of response Sagger, that a lot of folk probably feel like me about this. Sad

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 15:46

We have kept this bumped on and off for 2 months though. Kept it in peoples minds for that long. I think that is pretty good going.

I am already regiatered. I also give blood and have joined the NBS bone marrow register as well.

suejonez · 17/06/2006 16:52

Just signed up and emailed my family too. Already give blood but haven't given since last summer. Note to self (and any other donors) - ring and book appt on Monday, blood is in short supply during summer holidays.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 17/06/2006 17:16

I know it's tough tenalady and it's hard to think about anything happening to you or your loved ones. But my take on it is, I don't need those organs when I'm dead, I'm being cremated and it's such a waste.

And it's a personal thing for me as sadly my dd is more likely to need an organ than to be able to donate - we've been sooo close once before. Kind of spurs you on a bit.

Registered (have carried a paper card for YEARS!)

\link{http://www.htft.org.uk/categoryRender.asp?categoryID=3516&cCID=4259\Heart transplant families} are kicking off Transplant week with a Brighton to Worthing Trek.

The little boy Connor in the \link{http://www.htft.org.uk/categoryrender.asp?categoryid=3507&ccid=4250\news section}is the son of a friend of mine. He's a star!

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 18:31

Not only heart transplants, all sorts. My dd is doing it with her new liver! Anyone would like to sponsor her she would be most grateful.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/06/2006 18:46

Brill somanykiddies. When did she get her liver? Did she wait long?

spursmum · 20/06/2006 18:59

Boingy boing. Reminds me to make my blood donation appointment.....

Bloomsbury · 20/06/2006 19:23

A great post which definitely did the trick - I am now registered and will be asking my husband to do it too.

Haven't read all the posts so sorry if this a duplicate comment but, if you go the site to register, I'd advise you to look out the life story section - I initially didn't click yes to cornea donation (for some reason I felt uncomfortable about it) but once I'd read how cornea grafts had been so beneficial to lots of people I amended and went for 'all'.

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 19:36

Got her liver nearly two years ago. Had acute failure due to underlying illness so went straight to the top of the list in this country. Doner and match were found the next day thankfully as her own liver was totally shot and they say she had only days left!!!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/06/2006 20:47

Glad she's doing well Smk. I remember a little boy in ITU when dd was there once. Over a few days he got quickly yellower and yellower - he got his liver literally at the very last minute. And he did so well........out of ITU before us. I often think about how he's getting on.

And yes while we're at it blood stocks are low - give blood!!
