If you wear a tampon yes.

gscrym · 13/04/2006 20:49

Yes if you wear a tampon. You can also do all kinds of exciting things according to the adverts. Personally I just worry that I'll have a mis-hap in my white overalls.

Blush I have confessed this on MN before so no point in changing my name but a few months back I went swimming on the heaviest day of my period and used a tampon (although had changed this about an hour before going swimming, now would always change this just before going swimming). Whilst in the changingrooms I looked down with horror to see tinged water dripping on the floor. Shock

Northerner · 13/04/2006 20:58

Yuk at swimming without one. Would hate to think any does that in my local pool.

Just curious - why should you remove tampon immediatley afterwards?

tissy · 13/04/2006 20:59

if you use a mooncup, thee are no leaks/ drips at all...

madmarchhare · 13/04/2006 21:00

yes and horse riding and running and everything

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/04/2006 21:02

But what happens if your mooncup runneth over?

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/04/2006 21:02

And does it make slopping noises when you run if it is getting full?

crunchie · 13/04/2006 21:05

Use lillets they expand widthways, not lengthways, No leakage :)

madmarchhare · 13/04/2006 21:06

but you cant wash your hair and you cant get pregnant standing up.

tissy · 13/04/2006 21:06

Grin it doesn't runneth over if you empty it before going in for a swim! If it would fill to the brim for the short time you are in the pool, you may wish to desist till a lighter day.

I haven't noticed any slopping noises so far....

Whizzz · 13/04/2006 21:09

I've just had to half explain why I was smirking at the PC - I couldnt tell him it was about slopping noises in yr mooncup Grin LOL

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/04/2006 21:09

My mother always used to tellme I couldn't wash my hair when I was on the blob. What was that all about? I was hideous enough at 14 - fat and spotty with very unflattering haircut (like curtains), without the added agony of looking like a grease slick too.

Glad to hear about the slopping. Grin

Bozza · 13/04/2006 21:12

Well my DS has swimming lessons every Saturday where I have to take him and either get him with him or stand on the side in my costume. Shock So given that I have been bleeding more or than off since getting my implant in November my mooncup has been a bit of a life saver. Always make sure I empty it just before though.

7up · 13/04/2006 21:21

mrs s Grin

rickman · 13/04/2006 21:35

Well I must be the exception to the rule, because I can most definitely not go swimming, even with a tampon! Don't know if I want to say what happened to me the other day, it was bloody hideous though!

Oh God I can imagine was it obvious to everyone?

cyan · 13/04/2006 21:50

rickman i hope you were ok. i used to be a competitive swimmer so i had no choice when it came to my monthlies! but tbh i think swimming as much as i did (5 times a week for 3 hrs a go) really helped my periods that were much lighter, they have now come back with avengence. my flow is v heavy. aaaaahhh. i do go swimming though when its my time of the month.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/04/2006 21:51

Were you dropping clots?
Grin

rickman · 13/04/2006 22:21

Not quite that bad!!

Ds decided he wanted to go to the loo, so I got out with him and went back to the changing rooms where I discovered I had blood running down my legs. I sent ds back to the pool to tell my mum to get the others out and come back to the changing room. I stayed locked in a toilet with a red pool collecting around my feet. When they eventually came back, they had forgotten the towels so my mum sent ds1 and dd1 back to get them from my step dad.

When they had been gone a little while, mum went to see where they were and they had decided to swim back to my sd. Neither of them can swim, although they did have arm bands on and I was completely horrified they went in the pool on their own.

Once I had done the necessary in the loo, I decided I better go in the shower (i had cleaned myself up btw), only for another gush to come out in the shower. I was completely humiliated and can't imagine I will ever get in a pool again.

Just to complete my great day, I fell off a bouncy thing in the kids playground and hurt my leg. Blush
