Don't want to put anyone off from going swimming but I once went with a friend who was presumably using a tampon and, when she got out of the pool, rivers of blood poured down her legs. I was too embarrassed to tell her (not a bosom pal) and I think she only noticed when she was standing in the communal shower and blood was pouring down the plug hole. I know another woman noticed then. I felt mortified for her but I just didn't have the sort of relationship whereby I could tell her.

If I have a bath with a tampon in, I find the water must soak up the tampon and fill in and so when I get out, I leak everywhere, and I presume that is what happened to my friend.

So I wouldnd't necessarily advise that you can swim with a tampon in.

Gosh how awful for your poor friend DumbledoresGirl! At least she might think to herself that there is a chance that you didn't notice.

I cannot believe this thread exists, no you can.t go swimming and women aren't allowed orgasms.

DumbledoresGirl · 14/04/2006 09:46

I am feeling really bad about it now that I have told you all! I feel I let her down as a friend and should have overcome my embarrassment. In my defence, I think now I would tell her (our friendhsip has grown!)

Fairyfly, I don't think it is quite as balck and white as you imply. Many women bleed very heavily and really wouldn't be able to go swimming without embarrassing themselves. I don't bleed heavily, but I wouldn't risk leaking in public.

Oh Rickman :(
The other week I was taking the girls to swimming lessons, was fully clothed, had been watching dd2 as it was end of term.
DD1 was in the shower, I was waiting for DD2 to come out when I realised that I had leaked through my tampax knickers and jeans and was stnding there with a huge red patch:( and a short t-shirt on.
Thankfully dp hadnt disappeered too quickly and one of the kids got him to come round and he had a top with him that i wrapped round my backside butBlush and I had the kids rucksacks held in front...oh the Blush It was awful.

You poor thing.

I have never had any problems with tampons myself - maybe the mooncup is worth a try!
