Just got home from the country park down the road, while we were in the cafe bit a group of teenage boys wandered in and sat at the table next to me...

they then proceeded to play back a video of one of them beating a girl around the head in the playpark I'd been playing in with my 2 year old 30 minutes before!!!!!!

They did a runner before the ambulance came, but not after a swift cup of tea!!!!!!!!

Didn't even get asked to give a statement, this won't even make the local news. God knows what the hell is wrong with our country but sometimes I just want to move to a little island in the middle of nowhere!

NBG this is why you 'over-reacted' hun!

magnolia1 · 03/04/2006 17:05

Huge swear words spring to mind but it's daytime so I won't Angry

Poor girl Sad

And yes sadly they will get away with it and probably do it again Angry

expatinscotland · 03/04/2006 17:07

holy s*it, fastasleep!

FastasleepInABunnySuit · 03/04/2006 17:07

She looked about 10/11 Angry her face might never look the same again Sad

although thinking about it that would only make things worse... and if I went all psychobabbly it might have been them being beaten round the head that caused them to want to do it to others... then again they could just be EVIL LITTLE EFFING TW*TS!!!!!

I think I am turning into my mother / grandmother cos when I read about this sort of thing, I start muttering that we should bring back national service to sort the buggers out

CHICagoMUM · 03/04/2006 17:08

OMG shouldn't you call your local police and make a statement give a description of them etc.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2006 17:08

lol, tilly. my dad, and ex-Army drill sargeant who was conscripted in 1954 'back when they had a National Service', has been saying that for years!

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:09

FFS!

Madness.
Why do these kids think this is ok???

My brother and sister in law have had to deal with a situation at their school where one of the girls was raped and it was all videoed on a mobile.

My sister in law said that BIL was crying over it. He could understand why his pupils would do such a thing.

CHICagoMUM · 03/04/2006 17:09

BTW I have seen the term "happy slapping" several times today, what does it actually mean?

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:09

could'nt understand not could!

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:10

Hitting or abusing someone and recording it on their mobile phone.

Like that ad on telly atm where that boy gets knocked down.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 03/04/2006 17:12

they think it is funny
just plain tossers imo
nbg that is horrible

expatinscotland · 03/04/2006 17:12

in fact, some people have been filmed being murdered - happy 'slapping' my arse.

CHICagoMUM · 03/04/2006 17:12

Oh god how horrid. I hope the poor girl is ok. I bet on his own none of those boys would have done anything like that, but out them together and you get some sort of pack mentality, egging each other on, disgusting.

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:16

There was a couple ITV showed a few weeks ago. One of an elderly man being lured out of his home so that he could be beat about and another of someone being knocked off their bike.

The sad thing is that you can hear lots of laughter in the background Sad Angry

CHICagoMUM · 03/04/2006 17:16

Why were ITV showing them?

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:20

It was a report they were doing on "Happy Slapping". It was what the police had issued I think.

Blandmum · 03/04/2006 17:21

nbg, we have had fights in school that have thaken three adults to split up.

Believe it or not, parents have phoned in and complained that a teacher put a hand on their child who was beating the shit out of another child! We have had parents who have said that their child has a right to fight if provoked! Shock

You would believe how stupid some parents can be. That is why these kids sometimes think the way they do Angry

CHICagoMUM · 03/04/2006 17:23

"Happy slappers" is a youth craze in which groups of teenagers armed with camera phones slap or mug unsuspecting children or passersby while capturing the attacks on 3g technology.

According to police and anti-bullying organisations, the fad, which began as a craze on the UK garage music scene before catching on in school playgrounds across the capital last autumn,is now a nationwide phenomenon.

And as the craze has spread from London to the home counties to the north of England, so the attacks have become more menacing, with increasing numbers of violent assaults and adult victims.

[...] As police have become more vigilant, so the gangs have become more sophisticated, seeking victims in parks or public areas where their crimes are unlikely to be spotted by the authorities or captured on CCTV."

The last paragraph is the most concerning.

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:23

It amazes me MB. B&SIL come out with some unreal stories about some parents and kids.

They nearly ended up having a pupil stop over at their house a few weeks back!!!

I think the latest was a mother had shaved off all her dd's hair because she had nits. They had to keep her in a seperate room because of bullying Sad

desperateSCOUSEwife · 03/04/2006 17:24

mb if one of my children were getting provoked
i would expect them to fight
I dont want them walked all over

MMH · 03/04/2006 17:25

Shit NBG, is that a local school? (I know it might not be apropriate to say)

tillykins · 03/04/2006 17:25

they need a really short sharp shock don't they - I am beginning to think that 16 year olds or whatever, should have to do a year in the army - that bad lads army seemed to do the trick for a lot of wasters

Won't help the parents though - if my child had been in a fight, the last thing I would be thinking was whether the teacher had laid a hand on him.

I know it sounds like I am about 60, but kids now seem to have so little respect and seem to get away with so much - I feel quite afraid when I see a gang of teenagers

dinosaure · 03/04/2006 17:26

desperateSCOUSEwife, learning to hit back absolutely transformed my life, from pathetic crybaby into a force to be reckoned with.

Nbg · 03/04/2006 17:26

Huddersfield MMH.

Your ok!
