The latest baby name lists have been published today with a summary on BBC and the details are on Govt statistics . Have fun choosing names!

Wasn't Tegan in the lists as a boy's name though? Sorry didn't mean to offend, but had honestly never heard of it before and was stunned to see it in the top 100.

CountessDracula · 06/01/2004 19:35

No melsy it was something else. Can't find the blimmin site or thread though.

bluebear · 06/01/2004 19:45

number 98 in girls name list..
double checked my name book - Tegan is either welsh - beautiful or old cornish - ornament.

Ds has got an uncommon name too - guess dh and I are strange!

maretta · 06/01/2004 20:56

Have you tried the baby search on american baby.com - here .

It gives the 'traits' of your name that are usually quite abusive. I am 'a cute, outgoing, energetic, and down-to-earth woman.' but dh is 'a skinny, average bloke who fades into the scenery.'

bobthebaby · 07/01/2004 03:25

I am "pleasant and average". An ex bf once called me "strong and organsised" and I thought that would take some beating for a pointless description of me. Still my ds has no mates ("a loner". My husband is "average" but also gets to be "likeable".

pie · 07/01/2004 08:16

put my name in: a proper, beautiful woman who may be either sweet or brash.

Does that sound right?

tanzie · 07/01/2004 21:24

I'm big, blonde, boisterous and sexy...and not too bright!

popsycal · 07/01/2004 21:28

oooh
i am
pretty, smart, quiet innocent who wants to make the world a better place
But of course
sound like miss world...

aloha · 07/01/2004 22:07

VERY pleased - I'm dark haired and cute...and my name means 'weary' apparently. How true, how very true.

stupidgirl · 07/01/2004 22:15

Apparently I'm a fun, outgoing girl next door with a country-western style (eh?) Some people, though, see me as a frumpy homemaker or grandmother(???).

zebra · 07/01/2004 22:22

Bobthebaby: you & I may have the same name -- are you also supposed to be 'tall and quiet'... hahahahahhaaa, they got me wrong on the quiet part!

elliott · 07/01/2004 22:28

hmmm, I am apparently 'big, sturdy and.....average' (average, moi? ) and also 'strong and dedicated'. no, no, no, I don't like that at all!!

hoxtonchick · 07/01/2004 22:50

Ha ha, I'm "haughty, regal & quite domineering". Must remember to ask dp if he agrees.

Tinker · 07/01/2004 23:17

...is the kind of person that people like to be around--she's so darned considerate, helpful, and comfortable. Imagine your favorite teacher or a housewife the neighbors like to shoot the breeze with.

erm, no, I don't think that's quite me!

melsy · 07/01/2004 23:19

being dum tonight, once in link were do you put your name for traits???

bobthebaby · 07/01/2004 23:42

Yes Zebra, we have the same name.

melsy · 07/01/2004 23:52

Ok dum moment over you click on the name after seacrh done!!!

It said ;
"Most people think of my name as smart, sweet, shy, and quiet. Some, though, think I am a wild, sexy flirt"

Oxymoron may be. No I am not callin myself a moron!!!

Rhubarb · 08/01/2004 14:25

I quite like the name Gonzo, it's kinda cute!

marialuisa · 08/01/2004 14:32

ok, so apparently I am a big, sickly woman, a black singer or a rich snob. DH is a colourful old-timer, a scruffy backwoods prospector/banjo plucker or perhaps a meek and mild bookworm. DD's name is too unusual to have any comments, hurrah!

Interesting cultural differences though. in the UK DH's name is very much seen as a wicked aristocrat in a Barbara Cartland novel/ a name for a dog. my name is in the current top 10 (i think) but is generally screamed by mums of under 5s!

Angeliz · 08/01/2004 14:38

i am apparently a sexy sultry blonde or a freindly young Italian waitress

My name apparently only belongs to men in America. As such:

most people picture x as a big, lanky man who is helpful, pleasant, and witty. Some people, though, think of x as proud or stuck up.

My Sunday name makes me a bright, lively, and social woman who is likely to be a reliable hard worker.

And my official first name (unused since age 18 months, phew) gives either an obnoxious, stuck-up princess or a lower-class, single pregnant woman - an interesting duo!

JanH · 08/01/2004 15:08

Oh dear - 2 stuck ups - didn't notice that!

GillW · 08/01/2004 16:23

I'm apparantly a "cute, thin, dark-haired southern belle who is rich, popular, and lots of fun".

Well the dark-haired bit is right. The thin part owes rather more to wishful thinking though

bundle · 08/01/2004 16:25

" a strong-willed, authoritative woman who complains when she does not get what she wants. "
fnar.
