what the flying f*ck are coldplay doing on Kerrang? its disgusting - isn't there a governing body which regulates rock music? ok ok i'll put up with all the emo stuff some of its ok, but this.THIS is a step too far.

maybe asking for rocks chicks on mumsnet was the step too far? :)

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Angry

now that has really got my dander up good and proper

I know someone who used to live downstairrs from the Kerang editor but sadly I have lost the contact now

Seriously, this is disgraceful. Thank the Lord we still have Foo Fighters and QOTSA to fly the flag good and proper

Morue · 24/03/2006 13:28

oops read the thread title as "get your hair out of your leather pants"!

As for Coldplay on Kerrang, WTF? In my day it was Janes Addiction, Rage Against The Machine etc not a bunch of namby-pamby shoegazers!

desperatehousewife · 24/03/2006 13:33

custy talk me through the whole emo thing - i don't understand it. (note to self must mix with younger people)

maybe its a government backed plot to rid the world of rock. Whenever I hear Coldplay I have to fight the urge to open a vein or twelve - such misery, such dirge. And as for James "Whiny" Blunt...

Morue · 24/03/2006 13:35

lolol

littlerach · 24/03/2006 13:35

Ooh, I remember Janes Addiction, wasn't the keader singer perry someone.

suzywong · 24/03/2006 13:37

James Blunt makes me very very despondent.

Morue · 24/03/2006 13:37

como

meowmix · 24/03/2006 13:38

[fx: dreamy wavy lines and dream music]... back in the days when indie music was really indie... I see pints of lager and cigarette ends, I see black hair dye... I see improbably high heels...

[opens eyes} good god I'm wearing pink, working for "The Man", how the hell did that happen...

DaddyCool · 24/03/2006 13:38

radio stations in this country piss me off as well. it's all just easy listening, pop, constantly replayed songs... bla bla bla.

Radio 2 is great if you want to listen to chat but all other mainstream stations are appalling.

I listen to north american radio on the interent so I can hear a steady varied flow of 'music with teeth'.

Piffle · 24/03/2006 13:39

I do not mind Coldplay but not on Kerrang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eve2005 · 24/03/2006 13:39

fk, i remember when there was uproar coz they started putting in the nu metal bands, they must seem like death metal now in comparison to fking coldplay. stopped buying kerrang for exactly this reason, sell out b*tards

Morue · 24/03/2006 13:39

you mean americna muscid dc
fess up

Squarer · 24/03/2006 13:43

PMSL at the governing body to regulate rock music. I'm sure I would be regulated out these days though - bought "best of T-rex" as it is nice and mellow for Ds's little ears. (He doesn't like Zakk Wylde) Grin.

Seriously though Custy - your kids are older - what do you do when kids get to that certain age when they start dancing to Westlife?

suzywong · 24/03/2006 13:44

my kids have been trained from an early age, there will be no ..... you know, that kind of music in our house, it would bring shame upon my name-dropping family

meowmix · 24/03/2006 13:45

something of a sidestep but - I remember about a year ago (mebbe) Marilyn Manson had a cover of Tainted Love out and he was live on TOTP or CD UK or something and they made a big deal of how shocking it all was.

Then they cut to that dance video with the girls in thongs doing aerobics moves (with tossing.. of hair and licking of pouty lips)

The aerobics shocked me far far more.

DaddyCool · 24/03/2006 13:45

all sorts of music morue.

i'm listening to \link{http://www.edge.ca/\this} one right now. great music. a bit too much advertising though.

lol... the flash advert when I went back to copy the address was of coldplay. nevermind.

but it's music to smash your head through a wall to. it's great.

the talk is funny and highly offensive to the weak stomached.

Squarer · 24/03/2006 13:51

I suppose that is an option there SW - hoping my early training will serve us as well then.

My relief is palpable Grin

suzywong · 24/03/2006 13:54

yes, they can be trained, oh indeed yes, my goodness yes

Ds1 knows that Foo Fighters played very loudly in the car makes mama feel better. He gets Crowded House in Dad's car, but that's just culturally educationaly, and of course Stevie Wonder.

have a nice cup of tea meowmix and listen to some Inucbus

Tortington · 24/03/2006 13:56

\link{http://www.fourfa.com\wha the hell is emo anyway} this tell you apparently

short for emotional punk rock apparently

squarer - no westlife in my house- my nan likes them - that says it all really. my 13yo dd listens to pop rock - avril, pink, meatloaf, bon jovi - non of which are offensive to me - i rather like pink actually.

my oldest son is into some techno shite, shame becuase he used to do the howl of the wolf on the whitenake album when he was 3 and listened to iron maided when he was 12 ish where did i go wrong?

pearl jam have a new one out - doesn't blow me away but not bad.

anyone heard panic in the disco. not rock - more emo although publicised as punk ( my arse) i love it.
