Thought I would say a quick HELLO to everyone before heading off before bed - Good luck to everyone who has jobs, castings, agency meetings, or who is waiting to hear from castings...its lovely hearing so many positive stories.

Mummy2Toby · 09/02/2006 00:27

izzyrubi - they haven't mentioned sole rep to me at all - ds has been with BizzyKids since he was 8 weeks (but they say they want more forms back as they never got them the 1st time)and to be honest we have had a bit of a bad year, so I didn't even worry about why I hadn't heard from them. Do you think this means we can't go with CK?

TBH after reading 2manypimms post I am not sure because it doesn't say a lot about CK - but then the post was 5 years old so they may be more established now

I think I will try KL and hopefully hear back from them before the 25th (which is appt with CK)

And for the information of others - I met a girl today who worked in the child model industry for 13 years hear are her comments:- "I worked for 13 yrs (on and off) for Childsplay, The Childrens Agency, which at one time was the leading agency however it went down hill when i left.

These days all kinds of kiddies do get noticed but work is never guaranteed. If you go for it then go to Elizabeth Smith in Harrow Middlesex, she is the best. Rascals are very good but q.expensive, unfortunately you'll have to pay wherever you go at some point- i have not been in the business for years so have not heard of bizzy or cheeky kids."

totally we live about 10 mins from EB... our interview with them is beginning of march

alliep30 · 09/02/2006 09:41

Gumbee, i've had letter from AK asking for £25 up front for the pleasure of them meeting my child.. don't think i'll bother...

tinkerbellchelle · 09/02/2006 10:12

Allie is that just to meet them? Is your little one over 2?

alliep30 · 09/02/2006 10:19

yes, he's 5. she asked for £25 "interview fee" followed by £75 on the day for the photo shoot.

perfumelady · 09/02/2006 10:27

ali definatley forget that one, i thought it was illegal to charge for assesment. have you seen the piss taking dog modelling thread??

tigeryuan · 09/02/2006 10:28

morning ...
alliep30 -- so, are you going to meet them?

2ManyPimms · 09/02/2006 10:30

Mummy2Toby - The copy and pasted post was a recent post to a VERY old thread (may it rest in peace! Its a bit of a laugh if you have time to read it though!). I hope that we can add our insights into the various agencies - wish I had found Mumsnet before even thinking about launching DS into the wonderful world of child modelling!

mythumbelinas · 09/02/2006 10:34

wow, always good to come back and see lots of postings
Great news tigeryuan! A fab job .. so exciting!

Thanks for the info thorntons. I will def try to get (several) copies ;)

cyan · 09/02/2006 10:35

allie thats a bit mad why didnt she tell you that already seeing as you have spoken to her.

cyan · 09/02/2006 10:37

good luck today tigeryuan!

perfumelady-although elisabeth smith is supposed to be the top agency she still charges £30 for an assessment, thats what they asked for to see ds. i think there needs to be some sort of standard across the child modelling agency as it seems that some agencies choose to charge a fee and others dont.

mythumbelinas · 09/02/2006 10:38

perfumelady, haha yes, i've seen the dog modelling thread. Thought it was pretty funny, coz they don't 'get' it at all, but it's just their own (wrong) interpretation/perception. Anyway, immitation is the best form of flattery .. however the saying goes ..

cyan · 09/02/2006 10:39

we didnt end up going because i thought this was steep, £30 for assessment and then £130+ for photography etc. i do think there's a mum on here whi is v happy with them, but i just couldnt afford to fork out all that money.

alliep30 · 09/02/2006 10:42

love the dog modelling thread.. especially urban bones!!!! I'm a bit miffed about AK. I think i'll just go to IK instead then have a lovely day out in London...

tinkerbellchelle · 09/02/2006 10:43

I saw that dog modelling thread... it made me chuckle.
I have sent updated pics to BK so at least while Im seeing what options we get he has a incy wincy chance of something coming up.
My options now are EB ( meeting with them ) NC (meeting with them beginning of march) IK ( want to meet DS ) and AK ( want to take him on ) Just awaiting MOT but from posts on here I think we can already count on that being a no. I think I will just see the ones we've been offered to meet with and see what happens.

Hope everyone is ok this morning?

mythumbelinas · 09/02/2006 10:44

yeah alliep .. urban bones had me laughing for a while
