On a scale of 1-10, how bad was this slip up?

I had my interview today. It seemed to go really well. Had looked up the 'what does such and such mean' and thought of some strengths and weakness. However, although up till the end it seemed fine, but before I left I just got a 'well we'll wait for the references and then let you know'. Fine but they weren't very warm about it. So I have been dissecting the interview piece by piece and the only thing I can think of to was where I slipped up and said something along the lines of 'so they can pass the information on to us' Us being the ward, therefore implying I already had the job, which people had suggested I pretty much did already (I'm the only person being interviewed apparently! Plus they made the post applicable to me so i could apply). If you were interviewing me would you notice? Would you think I was terrible , arrogant etc (the 'boss' interviewing has been one of those hinting it was in the bag) with this slip of the tongue? I wouldn't normally be so anxious but it is for a different job at a higher grade which I am really hopeful for!!!

I dont think that was a slip up as such , I assume you were asked what you'd do in a situation in the role you're going for so therefore saying "us" was reasonable IMHO.

Spidermama · 18/01/2006 23:03

I don't know. I don't think it sounds arrogant at all. My dh is also waiting for an answer for a job IV he went for (down to the last two) so I can understand the anxiety.

Good luck though flossam. I hope you get it. Let us know.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 18/01/2006 23:03

Doesnt seem like it'd be a problem to me either.

Fingers crossed for you Floss. When are you moving?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 23:06

Floss

I have never been for an interview I didn't get.

When asked for examples, I have always said I would do this, or I would expect my team to do that, it implies confidence IMO.

Flossam · 18/01/2006 23:07

God knows VVV! We are still waiting on mortgage decision. We had recorded mail today but DP was asleep (after nights) so missed it. Did you go to meet up the other day? Did you have a good time? Shall we do it again in a month or so so Hunker can come?

Clever you LGJ! Probably because you are lovely. I used to work on this ward so I guess it was kind of natural. My heart lays there too so I really want to get it.

Flossam, if I was interviewing I would assume that this was part of the interviewee visualizing themself in the job. This would say to me that they want the job, not that they assume they have got it.

Don't obsess! It's quite possible that, having more or less told you the job is yours, they pulled back at the last minute because it is necessary to follow the "rules" - not because of anything you did/didn't say.

Good luck

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 23:13

Oh Floss, I didn't mean to sound clever, just meant to say overconfidence is not a bad thing, expecially if you are confident in your field.

Flossam · 18/01/2006 23:13

Thanks Miaou. I will let you know when I do!

OP posts:
Flossam · 18/01/2006 23:15

LGJ, you didn't 'sound' clever! I wasn't being sarcastic, at all! It was supposed to be a compliment! Sorry, I didn't read my post that way.

OP posts:
moondog · 18/01/2006 23:15

Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong to me!
Fingers crossed for you Floss!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 18/01/2006 23:19

God, I sounded touchy.........sorry

Well that OK then Come on, you had a cracking interview, and that is your only worry.

You will get the fat envelope any day soon.

Flossam · 18/01/2006 23:21

Ohh, fat envolopes are sooo good aren't they? heres hoping we get one for the mortgage too! You didn't sound touchy LGJ, when I read my post again I could see where you were coming from.

Thanks MD!!

Floss - LGJ is barking at everyone tonight - dont take it personal

I didnt go in the end, i did my neck in on Saturday night and didnt relish the prospect of dragging two kids on the underground when i could barely move my head.

Flossam · 18/01/2006 23:29

Thats a shame VVV. Shall we wait and see how Hunker is, how my interview and mortgage have gone and arrange a meet up with lots of notice? LGJ any days you can get up to London? Would be nice if Mars, Lockets, Starlover and Bubble and more than I can think of to mention after 3 glasses of wine could come too, wouldn't it?
