On a scale of 1-10, how bad was this slip up?

I had my interview today. It seemed to go really well. Had looked up the 'what does such and such mean' and thought of some strengths and weakness. However, although up till the end it seemed fine, but before I left I just got a 'well we'll wait for the references and then let you know'. Fine but they weren't very warm about it. So I have been dissecting the interview piece by piece and the only thing I can think of to was where I slipped up and said something along the lines of 'so they can pass the information on to us' Us being the ward, therefore implying I already had the job, which people had suggested I pretty much did already (I'm the only person being interviewed apparently! Plus they made the post applicable to me so i could apply). If you were interviewing me would you notice? Would you think I was terrible , arrogant etc (the 'boss' interviewing has been one of those hinting it was in the bag) with this slip of the tongue? I wouldn't normally be so anxious but it is for a different job at a higher grade which I am really hopeful for!!!

Hi, Edam's DH here.

In haste:

Such a minor example of feet-under-the-table-ism won't have had any effect on your interviewers, Flossam. The only thing which would have contributed would have been if you tried to talk yourself out of it, which you didn't, so you're fine. On the scale, it rates about an 0.5!

I was interviewed recently by someone in the Civil Service, who started talking about: "Well, John sits behind you, so you can ask him." Really thought I was in there, but wasn't offered the job, so it must work both ways, eh?

Thinking nice thoughts for you on the job front - keep us posted.

Edam's DH

Thank you very much Mr Edam! I'm sorry you didn't get yours - the whole thing is such a confusing time isn't it? They said this you said that... .

LoveMyGirls · 19/01/2006 10:47

when are they letting you know?

Flossam · 19/01/2006 11:04

When they get my references apparently.

I agree with Miaou - if I even noticed I'd see it as a good thing.

Flossam · 20/01/2006 22:35

Obviously wasn't too bad a one, like you all said. They phoned today, before they recieved my second reference 'unofficially' to tell me I had the job and I interviewed brilliantly.

I have just got a new job and the tension on waiting on an answer is horrendous but when you are told you have the job the high is unbelievable.

Good Luck.

Flossam · 21/01/2006 22:18

Sorry VVV went to bed. About 8 weeks I hope really. Not going to be that fun living alone! Going to give notice this week. Glad things are coming together with the loft.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 21/01/2006 22:46

Why will you be alone?

Shame you are leaving london

Flossam · 21/01/2006 22:48

DP goes down next sat. First two weeks mon-fri, then 6 days on 4 days off. Probably won't see much less of him than I do now, but will be lots of evenings on my own. Last night he told me he was going to cut off the internet too! Its alright for him while he dosen't need it eh!
