Fem-nn.com. I ordered a corset from them on 13th October, and it still hasn't arrived, and I keep getting fobbed off with pathetic excuses. I've just written them a snotty email saying deliver it or refund me. Dreadful service, and a different excuse every time I get a reply, from being ordered in from abroad to in a backlog of post, to not been shipped yet, blah blah blah.

I'll add to this one. Great Little Trading Company. Ordered a fleece from them in mid-September and I'm still waiting despite reassurances that it's been dispatched. I know there have been postal strikes - but 6 (6!!) weeks? I'm beginning to wish I'd ordered the next size up - ds will be too big by the time it arrives

lalaa · 13/11/2003 14:23

yes - agree on GLTC. Ordered 6 items weeks ago and only one has turned up - yesterday! They are Xmas presents so just hope they get here before then!

Am bloody livid. Just typed a lonnnnnnnnnnng post about how much I hate Harveys furniture stores and then my connection went down and I lost it all before I had a chance to post it , sometimes I really hate the internet. Anyway in a nutshell (don't have the time or the strength to type it all out again) I've had 2 disastrous encounters with them. The first was 4 years ago and I spent £1000 on a load of living room furniture only to have it delivered damaged and then replaced 3 times over a 24 week period. Then had to wait for a fortnight for my full refund, after an hour long argument with the store manager who tried to convince me to give them another go and come in to choose 'an alternative from their wide selection', I told him in no uncertain terms to 'f*ck off'. Vowed never to use them again but when DH and I moved house last May we found the perfect kitchen table and chairs for our new house. I'd told DH about my previous disaster (diff partner) but we agreed that the suite was really nice and we'd just be cutting off our nose to spite our face. So we went in and I told the saleman that I'd had an awful time with their chain previously and was not prepared to be treated in that way again, sales bloke assured me that it was a porbably a fault with the supplier so we went ahead and put up the £300 for the set. We were told that there would be a 10 day delivery on it which was fine. 14 days passed and we still hadn't heard from Harveys (at this point we were eating off our laps in the new pale carpeted lounge as we were also waiting for our dining room suite to arrive). Harveys tole us that there had been a problem and it was likely that there'd be a weeks delay on it but we should definitely have it within 3 weeks of ordering. We waited SIX weeks before the table and chairs arrived, countless phonecalls and endless arguments. My advice ? JUST DON'T GO THERE !

bobsmum · 13/11/2003 18:16

An update for you Lalaa - just opened the Xmas catalogue from GLTC which arrived this morning. There is a hastily photocopied note inside mumbling something about moving warehouses and call centres andit not going to plan blah blah blah. They've offered everyone 15% off their next order to say sorry for any inconvenience. Still no fleece today though

codswallop · 13/11/2003 18:19

Blimey - what a site!!

marthamoo · 13/11/2003 18:42

Re: GLTC, my friend has been waiting for a fleece from them for eleven weeks. Every time she has been in touch they have told her that its arrival is imminent. Like you, bobsmum, she decided if it ever did arrive it would probably be too small for her daughter so she cancelled the order and went elsewhere.

I have ordered from them in the past and had no problems but I've heard a few complaints about them lately.

Oakmaiden · 14/11/2003 14:08

PC World. I hate them with a passion. They are so bl**dy unhelpful and their mamger made me cry, which was just embarassing.

MUM2ELA · 14/11/2003 14:12

.....Next.... (although I still do, all the time).

Had vouchers for there for my wedding pressies this year and ordered lots of lovely furniture for my new conservatory. Told delivery would be at least 28 days, fab as we were off on honeymoon for 3 weeks. About 10 days later they delivered 6 dining room chairs (not cheap, £270 a pair) and because we were not in (we were in Cyprus!) they left them in our front garden!!

Grommit · 14/11/2003 14:35

If you are in Ireland don't buy from Dunnes Stores - they banned staff from wearing poppies for remembrance day!!

lou33 · 14/11/2003 17:19

Oakmaiden ikwym about them. We bought our first computer from them, and it had to be changed 5 times before we upgraded to a better one. The staff were really unhelpful and we had to kick up a huge fuss in the store before we got the manager. He finally gave us money for all our travelling expenses, and various apologies, but I did have to threaten to firebomb his store if he didn't sort our problem out (seriously) there and then.

Don't use the Science Museum store - they are the most useless, lying site ever & ruined my plans for dd's birthday party even though I ordered 6 weeks ahead...

fisil · 14/11/2003 19:03

I agree PC World. And Toys R Us.

Queenie · 14/11/2003 19:32

Agree with GLTC - ordered on internet and everything was in stock. When checked progress everything out of stock and still waiting!! Also Toys R Us because you can't get a double buggy through their tills and no-one wants to help apart from suggesting you leave babies one side on their own and queue other side - excuse me?? Tesco's are also getting really bad for running completely out of stuff and just leaving empty shelves and for fruit that rots before your eyes.

Queenie · 14/11/2003 19:33

Grommit, what reason did Dunnes give for that, do you know?

fisil · 14/11/2003 19:36

Queenie - one of my (many) reasons for hating Toys R Us was when one of their empoyees shoved past me through the checkout, pushing ds in buggy out of the way and just leaving him at the end. When I complained, Spotty 'Erbert says "huh, I wasn't going to nick him, huh huh." So even if you have the pushchair with you, it isn't good!

lucy123 · 14/11/2003 19:42

I love ToysRUs - not for buying things, but for the little outdoor toys demo area they have. Parks in Spain are a bit rubbish for toddlers (concrete floors, no baby swings) so we occasioanlly go there. Am I a cheapskate or what?

As for sites, I haven't had a bad experience yet. Obviously I've been lucky! (and perhaps I've been sensible too - I tend to find sites with online stock and a prominent phone number. )

handlemecarefully · 14/11/2003 20:09

Agree - Toys R Us are not great on customer service. Mostly 'Kevin the teenager' types behind the tills (OMG - now someone is going to say that their beloved nephew works there)...but I still shop there because they do have a huge range of toys.

Got peed off waiting to be served one day (I was stood in a queue, my turn came up and then the cashier just upped and walked off to do something just leaving me standing there - was soooo incensed!!), so helped myself to the desktop tannoy and my dulcet tones reverberated around the store:

"Calling all sales staff, calling all sales staff - service needed at the tills!"

Caused much consternation - but I did get served rather smartly!!

Queenie · 15/11/2003 11:35

Fantastic, I wish I had the bottle to do that!!

spacemonkey · 15/11/2003 11:48

i hate comet - they're ok if you buy in store, but if it's something that needs delivering i would rather pay more and go elsewhere - they have made my blood boil TOO MANY TIMES!

whymummy · 15/11/2003 12:28

don't buy from "joe browns",i ordered an expensive reversible top for dh,it took ages to arrive and when he put it on his t-sirt and the top of his jeans turned purple,i sent lots of emails complaining and i never got an apology,a year later i still have to wash it on it's own because of the dye, grrrr

lalaa · 15/11/2003 14:41

just thought of another one

Next - got given £100 in vouchers for Xmas and birthday last year (two months post birth and desperately wanted to get out of maternity stuff but still had big tummy). spent money on lovely clothes. got bill, paid with my vouchers plus extra by cheque. sent in the post. got statement - only cheque had gone through - so someone at their end either messed up the payment or stole my vouchers. I was in Greece for three months and came back to nasty letters threatening my credit rating! despite huge huge protest on my part, including tracing when they were bought, where from and how they were paid for (v embarrasing for me and distressing for the person who bought them for me) and a very stroppy letter, Next have refused to investigate fully and I'm £100 down. Never ever ever buying anything from them again.

mergle · 16/11/2003 10:09

BabyCare Direct.

We ordered a Brio Cot, a Grobag and a mattress from them. We also got a free playmet because we had spent over a certain amount.

We got: NO Grobag, instead a strange cot-divider type thing which they swear we ordered, despite all evidence to the contrary, a cot about 5 weeks late and NO playmat. We did get the mattress though.

When we had called, several times, (with a 3 week old baby, not fun) they eventually agreed to exchange the items and actually send our playmat-if we posted back the other items at our expense. They said that this was ok because they would generously pay the postage to send the replacement items out.

Repeat DO NOT BUY FROM BABYCARE DIRECT.

mergle · 16/11/2003 10:14

ALSO-RBS Visa, if you can avoid it. They screw up all the time. Example, last month we paid my balance as usual (having bought a Brio cot, cot-divider etc, see below). Recieve statement a month later requesting payment of said balance. Phone them up. To cut a long story short, after many phone calls and listening to "You Always Take the Weather" 4000 times, they confirm that it is their mistake (they took the money then refunded it for some reason) but they will not refund interest charges on my RBS card, or at my bank due to automatic direct debit. ALSO, penalty will be applied because a payment bounced from Amazon. Very very bad people.

bobsmum · 16/11/2003 19:56

Still no fleece

AlishasMum · 16/11/2003 20:02

handlemecarefully that is BRILLIANT - Love it!!!!!!!!!!
