Hunker, you are right, I have been on this since this afternoon and the later it gets, the more it seems important. I just can't help thinking about those lenient sentences.....

UCM, I do understand. I've been, er, evangelical about things in the past, shall we say And about nothing quite so upsetting as this.

I am sure I do , but if this was a long timer, you know as well as I do, my post would have been more reasoned, and what is more I would be defending that poster to the hilt.

A distinct lack of netiquette, if I click on on a fluffy kitten post, I do not want random news postings rammed down my throat.

LGJ - UCM has been around for a while!

In any case, I don't think that time served is a good basis for whether your post should be reasonable or not!

I think UCM got a bit carried away on a subject that many of us have been deliberately avoiding. UCM has apologised and explained why she did it, which I believe is good enough!

Worse things have happened on MN - much worse!

I've emailed Mumsnet HQ with full details of how this has all blown up, and asking for all the posts to be removed, but I don't know how soon anyone will be able to do that. So can see I'm going to be apologising to more people tomorrow.

Mumsnet HQ has replied to me (at this hour? all sane people should be in bed) and so hopefully the posts should be removed soon and avoid upsetting too many other people.

We do not allow multi-posting across the boards and for this reason we have deleted some of ucm's posts that we feel were inappropriately placed. This said, we totally understand why such an emotive subject has caused this reaction and agree this thread is now best left.
