I named and shamed www.facepaintshop.co.uk yesterday as not having delivered my order. I tried repeatedly to get through to them yesterday, left messages on the office phone and the mobile number that was left on the answerphone and sent a text and several emails which got bounced.

Out of desparation I called the mobile last night at midnight to try and get through as I was worried they had run off with my cash due to bounced mails. No one answered.

This morning he called me finally. I explained to him what had happened and he started screaming at me, called me a f**king bitch and said that he really thought that there were more important things in the world than whether I got a few face paints! He then repeated that I was a fucking bitch and hung up.

Then I got a text - "do not call our shop again, u obviously have a very bad anger problem which we do not have 2 listen 2 or tolerate...have a nice day

WTF???

Then he left me a sarcastic voice mail saying that I was obviously very upset and that he hoped once I had calmed down I would call so he could sort it out!

V odd as I was actually calm throughout.

I think I will call and placate him in case he comes round and kills my dog or something as he is clearly insane.

OR - my SIL works for the daily star and knows the consumer bod there, could get him in print for his attitude

What do you think?

Daily Star obviously, customer always comes 1st!

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:15

yes but he has my address and is clearly mad

Also would be publicity for his vile organisation

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 22/12/2005 10:15

Amidst all his insults did he say where your order was?
Nutter.

moondog · 22/12/2005 10:15

OMG!!!

I thought the £100 I am still owed by Dibor (to say nothing of countless lies) was bad enough, but this takes the biscuit.

Go after him,this is outrageous.

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:16

He said it was posted on the 16th so is obv stuck in the xmas post

OP posts:
OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 10:17

I would call and try and sort it out, sounds like a loon.

Maybe he is stressed about xmas........

lol at his attitude re facepaints, don't sell them then if they are that unimportant.

puffoeufnog · 22/12/2005 10:18

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

The text was a "cover" for his abusive telephone call to attempt to seem like the voice of reason - sneaky bastard.

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:18

I did say to him how can you have that attitude when it is your business!

OP posts:
motherinfurriercoatnoknickers · 22/12/2005 10:18

He is also lying. I've had masses of things in the post - sent and received - which have taken normal amounts of time.

Can you speak to a manager there? Or - don't tell me - he was the manager...?

WickedWinterWitch · 22/12/2005 10:19

I think we should all email him and tell him he has incurred the wrath of mumsnetters. Including various witches and wizards.

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:19

I should imagine it is his business

OP posts:
SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:20

oh no please don't I really don't want to get into one with a nutter

OP posts:
WickedWinterWitch · 22/12/2005 10:21

OK, I was joking, don't worry. I do know how horrible it is when someone is this aggressive and rude. I would write a calm letter saying you will never use his busines again and you'd like a refund please. Also mention that you're moving house soon so please could he arrange it asap.

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 10:22

If it is a one man band business, it could be stress that is making him unreasonable.

Not trying to make excuses for him AT ALL, but it may explain his rage if he gets calls at midnight and he has had enough of facepaints full stop.

uwilalalalalala · 22/12/2005 10:27

Ooooo, I'd be so mad if someone suggested that my 3 year old's Christmas present was unimportant. And I am a stickler for cutomer service. I think it's generally quite bad in this country, and I am quite prepared to take my business elsewhere if someone is even a bit lazy about pleasing me. But, if someone actually directed foul language at me, well I'd do something in return.

HOWEVER, as you rightly point out, he is a psycho and he knows where you live. So, my advice is the revence is best served cold. Wait a while. Then, shame him publicly. Wait long enough that he won't know it's you.

So, where is your paint set? It's in the mail, huh? Well, if I were you and it showed up after Christmas, I would return it for a full refund.

GoodKingGeorginars · 22/12/2005 10:28

Mad, completely mad. Well done for keeping calm throughout.
Agree with WWW, try the calm letter approach and see what happens. If that doesn't work, then hit the Daily Star/watchdog/trading standards. There isn't much point trying to reason with someone that bonkers. And name and shame - let's at least make sure no mnetters use him. he won't stay in business long if this is how he operates!

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 10:30

I have sent him an email saying that I really don't want to have a row with him.

Sent him a txt to say I had emailed him via his website and he sent me one back saying not interested! LOL

OP posts:
Feistybird · 22/12/2005 10:30

If someone in hi situation called me that over the phone, I would call the police.

WickedWinterWitch · 22/12/2005 10:31

Actually, when a woman in Devon was that rude and shouted at me the police did go and have a word. But they don't have much to do down there!

Yes I am very shocked!

It takes quite a lot to shock me!

OP posts:
bauble99 · 22/12/2005 10:39

But that's the thing, beety. SB hasn't received the facepaints and he has her money.

flashingnose · 22/12/2005 10:40

Definitely phone the police - that is completely unacceptable. As you say, it takes a lot to shock you but imagine if a Granny had ordered from him and got that response .

bauble99 · 22/12/2005 10:40

But that's the thing, beety. SB hasn't received the facepaints and he has her money.

GoodKingGeorginars · 22/12/2005 10:43

Actually I'd also be very tempted to phone the police and report him for abuse. But then I am not that calm a person in these situations! It is so shocking that I can hardly believe it.
And imagine if he had said that to grandparents who had ordered presents for grandkids, or anyone slightly vulnerable - it could cause such upset and even physical illness. I guess it depends on whether the police would actually do anything
