I named and shamed www.facepaintshop.co.uk yesterday as not having delivered my order. I tried repeatedly to get through to them yesterday, left messages on the office phone and the mobile number that was left on the answerphone and sent a text and several emails which got bounced.

Out of desparation I called the mobile last night at midnight to try and get through as I was worried they had run off with my cash due to bounced mails. No one answered.

This morning he called me finally. I explained to him what had happened and he started screaming at me, called me a f**king bitch and said that he really thought that there were more important things in the world than whether I got a few face paints! He then repeated that I was a fucking bitch and hung up.

Then I got a text - "do not call our shop again, u obviously have a very bad anger problem which we do not have 2 listen 2 or tolerate...have a nice day

WTF???

Then he left me a sarcastic voice mail saying that I was obviously very upset and that he hoped once I had calmed down I would call so he could sort it out!

V odd as I was actually calm throughout.

I think I will call and placate him in case he comes round and kills my dog or something as he is clearly insane.

OR - my SIL works for the daily star and knows the consumer bod there, could get him in print for his attitude

What do you think?

Really? Why? I had left numerous messages and had had no response (it says they are open 10 - 4 for phone calls), and my email to them bounced. I just wanted a response so I could find out if they had gone bust

they are listed as part of 'Shop Safe' who have a complaints page here , may be worth pursuing what they say here. also has links to trading standards etc. It's just not acceptable, especially the abuse!

Sleighmenere · 22/12/2005 10:49

I'd imagine they probably have gone bust, hence the complete over-reaction.

acnebride · 22/12/2005 10:54

very shocking - I'd be shaking if anyone had sad that to me, and i'd agree with sleigh that they must have gone bust which is nasty - but can't help a snurk at the thought of their slogan 'Facepaints UK - There are more important things in the world than whether you get a few facepaints'

bossykate · 22/12/2005 10:59

how awful. what utterly bizarre behaviour from someone trying to run a business - he clearly has "issues".

complain as georginars suggests - then i think i would leave. as you say, you don't want to get into one with a nutter.

hope you are feeling ok now.

bossykate · 22/12/2005 10:59

leave it even.

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 11:10

That bloke....bet he is a hair's breadth away from pulling out his Uzi and spraying his neighbourhoood with bullets........

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 11:14

Actually by the sound of him I should imagine he is more likely to lock himself in the bathrooom in a hissy fit....

OP posts:
moondog · 22/12/2005 11:16

What a completely bonkers vignette!
Hey,CD,one that you will get loads of mileage out of this Christmas!

TheVillageIdiot · 22/12/2005 11:20

Glad your face paints have arrived but just wanted to add that if this is a one man band, there could be loads of reasons he completely over reacted (death in the family, money troubles, marriage breakdown etc) no excuses for his behaviour though of course.

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 11:22

oh yes I know

If he wasn't having such a hissy fit I would call and placate him

OP posts:
GoodKingGeorginars · 22/12/2005 11:24

typical of them to turn up!
If you can face it, prob still worth doing something. yes, there could be all sorts of things going wrong for him but I feel abuse on that scale is unforgiveable....but then, he sounds so mad he'll probably be out of business soon. one hopes so anyway!

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 11:26

have you told him they have arrived?

He has probably got a red flashing light linked up to the phone when you call now lol.

xx

SilentBite · 22/12/2005 11:26

No am not going to do anything

OP posts:
GoodKingGeorginars · 22/12/2005 11:29

can't say I blame you.

sharklet · 22/12/2005 13:38

Silent Bite,

What a nightmare. I'll be passing that info on - as a professional facepainter I'm sure my colleagues would be interested to hear about his attitude.

In the future if you want o buy facepaints try www.bluegallery.co.uk thats where I get mine - cheaper than most other places and they are a joy to deal with.

Emma xx
