I love.....

... lie ins (because we get so few nowadays)..
... bacon sarnies slathered in ketchup...
... biting my DD's little bellybutton and hearing her squeal..
... sleeping in a bed with fresh line-dried sheets...
... the fact that I am a SAHM and spend all day every day with my DD and DS's once they get home from school...
.... MUMSNET !!...

My son, for a hundred reasons. In the beginning I thought motherhood was a hard slog, but am getting lots of joy from it now

oliveoil · 15/10/2003 10:55

My dd even though she threw up all over me twice yesterday and then crapped through her vest and babygrow at 1am. Ahhhhhh motherhood.

WSM - agree on the bellybutton squeals. Also, playing peek-a-boo gets the same gorgeous response.

codswallop · 15/10/2003 11:00

having normal balance.

Northerner · 15/10/2003 11:04

my ds, because he insisted on walking to nursery this morning (he's only 18 months but this morning I let him as we had plenty of time, and it's just at the end of our road)But he also insisted on carrying his little toy hi-fi system all the way, and it had to be playing music. So we walked to nursery humming along to 'On top of the world' and 'She'll be coming round the mountain'

What a great way to start the day!

Angeliz · 15/10/2003 12:04

i LOVE:
the way when dd is asleep she glows and looks like an angel,
the way she pats my back when she cuddles me,
the way sometimes she just looks at me and says "I love you mammy!"
the way she runs in to my room at about 6am saying there;s a "scawy monta"(scary monster) in her room!!
ANYTHING to do with my dd

whatsaname · 15/10/2003 12:12

I love... the way I can't stop a smile when I can hear my dd babbling to herself in her cot while I'm getting ready for work.

And the same thing when I get into bed alone every night and I can hear snuffling in her sleep... it makes me feel really warm and grateful.

CountessDracula · 15/10/2003 12:16

When my dd snuggles up to me and says "aaaah".
Watching dd & dh reading bedtime stories.
Chasing dd like an ogre and her screaming with laughter and squirming around.
Hiding and dd finding me and shouting "HAAAAAAAR"

sykes · 15/10/2003 12:16

That's lovely, Whatsaname. You must be such a strong person, I need to take a leaf out of your book.

waterbaby · 15/10/2003 12:17

I love that DD's arms are now long enough to reach my back when she is in the bike seat, so she gives me a great massage as we cycle to nursery! Tjose big hills didn't seem so big this morning

I also love:
Playing in the leaves
Watching her confidence grow
Hearing her sing nursery rhymes
Her giggle
Playing hide and seek - she gets so excited she can't wait more than about 15 seconds to be found!

cazzybabs · 15/10/2003 12:23

My boyfriend especially when he says "Do you know how much I love Isabelle" and when he takes her to the park after nursery.

and my dd when she gives my cuddles (well I do actully love her when she's not)

and my mum because she doesn't need a because

Oh and everybody here because you know how ever bad your day was someone will cheer you up or make you humble by releasing your problems are not as great as theire but they don't see them as problems!

Frenchgirl · 15/10/2003 12:29

I love that when I wake dd up for school she gets up with a big smile on her face
I love that if I say to her 'good morning little kitten', she stretches and miaows like a cat for me!
I love her enthusiasm for things
I love that dh holds me tight and gives a huge cuddle when we go to sleep
I love hearing her making up stories in her bedroom
I'll stop here before you're all bored senseless

whatsaname · 15/10/2003 12:32

EmmaTMG · 15/10/2003 12:35

The huge rush of love that keeps getting bigger for 3 week old DS3. The feel of his wispy hair on my lips when I kiss his head, his lovely baby smell, his amazingly soft cheeks, the chubby wrinkles he's getting on his legs, the funny chicken noise he makes when he's got hic-cups, the snuffles he makes at night time when he's hungry, his ears, nose, fingers, toes, tummybutton, .....oh I could go on and on and on but I'm sure you all get the idea.

Obviously I felt it for Ds1+2 aswell but I'm savouring every bit of it this time as I doubt I'll get another chance

EmmaTMG · 15/10/2003 12:38

And DH because he changed his mind about having No.3

whatsaname · 15/10/2003 12:53

I like the way that reading about what other people love makes me feel happy.

I love the way this thread has got me thinking about all the things I love in life and that it's made me feel good and I have a wide smile on my face at work!

Jenie · 15/10/2003 12:54

I love watching the cat chase insects then looking at his paw and eating them - don't know why always makes me giggle.

My children sitting next to each other on the sofa sharing a bowl of chips on a Tuesday evening.

The way my dd always scurries off to hide in the same place when dp comes home and ds stands next to her pointing and shouting.

The way dd,ds and I always seem to line up to kiss dp good bye each morning.

My mum comming to stay for the occasional weekend.

Bubbles.

Listening to dd make up songs.

Listening to ds babble eeeeiii eeeii ooooooo on the way to scool each morning - even when its realy cold.

I'll stop there.

Girly · 15/10/2003 13:00

Going to 80's nights and dancing all night.

My oldest 3 being at school all day, leaving peace and quiet for me and ds2.

fio2 · 15/10/2003 14:14

my kids, husband, dogs and mom etc.

Welshmum · 15/10/2003 14:30

When DD and I look at our photo album and she points out the people she knows - mainly dad-eeeee.
Asking her 'Do you want to go to bed?' and she says 'yesh'
The way she's so good when we go out to the Italian - and loves the food.
Her giggles, her lovely smiles etc
When DH and I eat flakes together sitting on the sofa.
One of his hugs when he's concentrating.
The way I'm currently managing to do everything and stay on top of it all.
Being thinner
