Have you got your advent calenders ready?

Hulababy · 30/11/2005 21:05

We have a fabric advent calender, which I have just filled up with chocolate this evening. It is now hung ready for tomorrow.

Father Christmas has also been to collect DD's letter, and he has left a letter in return, and a Father Christmas toy set (Happy Land set) with a sprinkling of fairy dust.

I love Christmas with children

BTW, was amazed to see that Morrisons had run out of advent calenders today - Dh isn't getting one now!

Blimey you're organised!

Just reminded me about the advent calender though so thanks!

Gem754 · 30/11/2005 21:07

Got ours a couple of weeks ago. It's just a traditional paper one with pictures behind the doors.

I know Dd won't appriciate it (she is only 9 1/2 weeks) but felt mean not getting her one.

gingerbear · 30/11/2005 21:07

thanks for the reminder Hula, I will have to go and hunt for ours now.

crimbocrazydazy · 30/11/2005 21:09

Hi Hulababy, looking forward to meeting you Sat!!!! Was just saying I didn't really know anyone who was going on Sat apart from Yorkiegirl but I think I have had a few conversations with you though!!!!

Anyway back to the thread, yep DD has Fifi Flowerpot and DS has Madagascar, he wanted Scooby Doo but couldn't get one!!!!

Putting our tree up tomorrow when kids come home from school.......sooooo excited

Janh · 30/11/2005 21:10

Nope. Now youngest is 12 I feel no guilt at leaving all that to indulgent grandma

zebratwizzler · 30/11/2005 21:11

My kids have never had one. Does that make them woefully deprived?

QueenEagle · 30/11/2005 21:11

Mine don't have any.

Am I mean and wicked?

gingerbear · 30/11/2005 21:12

I fill ours with 'celebrations', but to to illegal pilfering it is topped up at least twice.(not saying by whom, whistle....)

Posey · 30/11/2005 21:15

We have a Playmobile one. This will be its 5th Christmas so so far just £2 a year. Ds will love it this year.

eidsvold · 30/11/2005 21:17

It is ready - in the cupboard - jsut debating whether to open it this morning and give dd1 the choc before she goes to kindy or to have it tonight after dinner....

It is one of hte prepackaged ones - she is a massive Hi-5 fan and I found some in a store the other day.

I would lvoe to make two fabric ones for the dds - maybe next christmas.

expatinscotland · 30/11/2005 21:17

Yep! Made choccies to put in.

sammac · 30/11/2005 21:22

Every year we seem to acquire another one, so am in midst of building new playmobil one. Got 2 chocolate ones, a fabric one, a little village. need more children, lol!

novabrandybutterpowder · 30/11/2005 21:25

Yep - had them ready to go for a couple of weeks. DD is too young for them at the mo so it's just DH and me!

SMUG MUM ALERT!

We are printing a piccie of ds1 at the fair onto a "print your own jigsaw" right now. We will then put a piece a day into the fabric calendar so that he eventually makes up the whole jigsaw.

SMUG MUM ALERT!

Hulababy · 30/11/2005 21:48

Our fabric one isn't home made either - cost me 99p on ebay

crimbocrazydazy - see you on Sat; can't wait!!!

piffle · 30/11/2005 21:48

I was feeling smug that I remembered for the first time ever (and ds is 11) to buy milky bar ones.
Hmmm now I feel bad that I did not hand make and fill a traditional one

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 30/11/2005 21:50

we got ours today in John Lewis, I was going to go for a pagan one with Father Christmas but dd chose one of Joseph, Mary on the donkey and Jesus... Wonder if she thinks we're not religious enough for her taste
No chocolates for us.
expat, you made the chocolates?? wow....

BudaBabe · 30/11/2005 21:53

All done - bought a Milka choccy one and it's propped up on the table for DS to find in the morning.

Milliways · 30/11/2005 22:08

We've got Thorntons ones with their names iced on.

spidermama · 30/11/2005 22:10

Well done fisil.

* Crap mum alert *

We managed to get the last Cadbury one down the co-op this evening.

aloha · 30/11/2005 22:11

Oh bugger, it's tomorrow isn't it. Do have one, will have to fish it out. Thanks for the reminder!
Ds's letter to Father Christmas read (he typed it)
Dear Father Christmas (I helped with that bit)
No! I dont want that. I want sum Noahs ark animals

Surreal eh?

BadHair · 30/11/2005 22:12

Yup, just been in loft to dig ours out. It's a fabric Christmas tree with numbered pockets with toys in to go on tree.
I usually don't find it till the 3rd or 4th December so I made a special effort this year.
Bl**dy cold in loft though!

piffle · 30/11/2005 22:13

11 yr old ds is castigating me for not allowing him to open it in the morning before school.
I was more concerned about dd, as I would prefer her to have hers in the afternoon. And I want them to open it together as its dd's first one - well ds's first one really but he's familiar with the concept...
Bitch or what?
