Have you got your advent calenders ready?

We have a fabric advent calender, which I have just filled up with chocolate this evening. It is now hung ready for tomorrow.

Father Christmas has also been to collect DD's letter, and he has left a letter in return, and a Father Christmas toy set (Happy Land set) with a sprinkling of fairy dust.

I love Christmas with children

BTW, was amazed to see that Morrisons had run out of advent calenders today - Dh isn't getting one now!

Ohhh, aloha

wracked with guilt now! Have a total mental block re Post Office atm...will def post jigsaws on Monday (or Tuesday at the latest) I also have some animal toy things that came with Shreddies (Madagascar models - lion, zebra etc) and will lob those in too. Hope your DS doesn't have an aversion to things with Nestle on them?

I went down the fabric route last year. In some pockets there were little love notes/messages, in others fairy like bundles of herbs or small toys, also some photos and in others chocolate coins.

They took turns day by day in having the contents but you should have seen the fury if they didn't get chocolate.

That's why I just bought the Cadbury one today. The deeper, nicer, more time consuming message was lost on them.

Don't worry JanH - seriously, I am not in the least fussed or in a hurry. I am, in fact, just incredibly grateful that you even thought about ds, let alone did something. I think you are wonderful!

I'm using this:

I'm sure those with allergies will be extra careful anyway but Cadbury have recalled their Dairy Milk miniature calendars because of incorrect labelling

Granny brought one for DS. Had seen some really nice non chocolate ones we were going to buy, but she gave us one for him (a la chocolate!!) several weeks ago. I never had a choccie one and would rather my one year old didn't this year, but hey.

WassnailingPace · 01/12/2005 00:41

Thanks PPF - Think I'll use that too.

Just had a look though & it's still saying no peeking for the first which should be okay now (checks watch)

I kept putting it off, so now I will have to tell the DSs that they can't have it until they get back from school, and do a mad dash to find some. Tesco had loads but they were pants.

Oh, now it's december I should have done it in my christmas name!

fairydust · 01/12/2005 07:56

DD woke up this morning excited about her advent calender. And her face was a picture when she went downstairs and saw that Father Christmas had not only taken her letter away, but had left her a letter and a gift, covered in magic elf dust.

Home from nursery now and they were the first thing she went too.
