yes was mary once

usually narrator as tall and serious

colditz · 29/11/2005 18:00

I was a cow. I refused to be an angel because I had to stand up for 20 minutes, and am a very lazy person.

bundle · 29/11/2005 18:00

angel gabriel, twice. mum made me lovely satin angel frock.

colditz · 29/11/2005 18:01

Oh yes, in every other play I was the narrator, as I went to a school with a very deprived catchment area and was only child who could clearly and confidentlyread at aged 7.

Whizzz · 29/11/2005 18:02

I can remember being an angel at Brownies & I have the photo to prove it. I can't actually remember doing any nativity plays at school!

iota · 29/11/2005 18:03

can't remember doing a Nativity play -- I did play the Doctor in a Mummers play at Primary school though

tamum · 29/11/2005 18:04

I thought this was going to be a deep philosophical/religious thread. But no .

I was an angel in the WI play (I was little, they needed some kids, I'm not that sad) and a shepherd in the brownies.

Miaou · 29/11/2005 18:04

I was God once.

I was desperate to be Mary. Alas it was not to be.

tallulah · 29/11/2005 18:29

Always an angel because I had fair hair. Once gabriel at the sunday school nativity and I still remember all my lines

(I longed to be Mary)

harpsiheraldangelssing · 29/11/2005 18:30

always the narrator for similar reasons to colditz
never an angel
a wise man once
mary hahaha
trefusis how

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 18:31

in a school panto it was between me and one other girl to play the lead role in Cinderella. I so wanted the part, but she had a posh frock for the ball scene, so she got the role.

Phah!

And she was a right cow to me!

do teachers not understand the profound psychological harm they are inflicting? (this is not a teacher-bashing thread )

Blandmum · 29/11/2005 18:32

trefusis , that is so sad

I was mary with glasses

OP posts:
Blandmum · 29/11/2005 18:32

Everyone should be Mary, especialy the boys

OP posts:
roisin · 29/11/2005 18:32

I was never Mary, never and Angel, never even a donkey
Not that I'm scarred for life by the experience of course!

I was always a narrator - note a narrator, not the narrator like some of you; or in the choir.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 29/11/2005 18:34

I did get to wear a lovely frock once for the narrating (peter pan)
not my frock natch
and it was v good practice, being the narrator

marthamoo · 29/11/2005 18:36

I was the narrator. Every damn year. I ached to be the Angel Gabriel with a tinsel halo and sparkly cardboard wings but I was solemn looking and dark haired so not a chance. Wouldn't even have minded being Mary. Or even a bloody donkey. Just so I could dress up and pretend. But no - flippin' narrator, year after year after year.

puff · 29/11/2005 18:44

yep, always a narrator, what seemed like loads of words to learn and no costume
