Ok, so I'm dreaming of Christmas...
We need to get some new lights this year but can't decide which ones.

So, do you have white or coloured, static or twinkling? Or something else even better?

I like white and plain - DP likes colourful and gaudy.

So we compromise and have both on the tree

There are some truly fab lights in the shops this year (I only know cause DS loves them so we go to see them - honest )

We have white and static on the tree. Twinkling ones would drive me mad.

flamesparrow · 02/11/2005 22:22

I like coloured and static - twinkly confuses me.

SoupDragon · 03/11/2005 08:09

simple white static ones.

fairydust · 03/11/2005 08:11

the tree ones are white they have an option for twinkle or static.

jayzmummy · 03/11/2005 09:05

plain static on the tree but twinkling on the beams and fireplace, which are decorated with hops.

sweetheart · 03/11/2005 09:09

we have half white static ones and half white twinkling ones. It has to be said though that I am very anal about my xmas tree - it's got to be red and silver! Nothing gaudy!!!!

Bozza · 03/11/2005 09:16

white, twinkly.

triceratops · 03/11/2005 09:16

we have colour. I can't bear tasteful christmas trees. If they don't have a toilet roll santa and angels with badly applied glitter they may as well be in a shopping centre.

My sister had the Habitat/cruella de'vile style christmas tree last year - all black fur and feathers- bah humbug.

JenumGeranium · 03/11/2005 09:18

I have to have white lights - we have the ones you can change so they can either be static or slightly twinkly or fading or then there is the mad flashing which I cant be doing with myself!

We have had a white christmas tree since last year too - I really want some pink baubles but cant seem to find any. I got some salmony pink tinsel from Wilks but cant find any baubles to match! So if anyone knows where I can find any!

We have these lovely stars from IKEA. Only a tenner for an entire net. Ours are 'silver' but you can get them in gold as well.

JenumGeranium · 03/11/2005 09:22

and I think I bought some fluffy lights which go round the mirror in the hallway - omg I think I'm actually turning into a girly! I was very much a tomboy as I was growing up!

We also have lights around the windows and pretty much everywhere I can find a space! DH despairs as I am always buying more lights!

teeavee · 03/11/2005 09:23

I love tackiness in a tree as well! has to be a real tree though.
co-ordinated xmas trees are the ultimate in naffness imo

teeavee · 03/11/2005 09:24

last year I even bought little santa lights - high kitsch, just as christmas should be!

JenumGeranium · 03/11/2005 09:24

I have my tree which is downstairs in the living room and the boys have their own one in their room to decorate how they wish!

expatinscotland · 03/11/2005 09:25

My mum has tree lights in the shape of jalepeno chilis. SO tacky they're fabby!

teeavee · 03/11/2005 09:25

my sister has those - all year round

expatinscotland · 03/11/2005 09:26

I love 'em! Like velvet Elvis pictures or those star light pendants. Very kitsch.

teeavee · 03/11/2005 09:28

I draw the line at outside flashing snowmen adn rudolph on the roof etc though - that isn't fun kitsch, it's downright tasteless light pollution!

teeavee · 03/11/2005 09:28

oops flashing snowmen - oo-er
