I am sorry to hear this Janh. No words of wisdom I am afraid. Why is he out of a job if you don't mind me asking?

projectmanagerCOd · 09/10/2005 21:17

tell! what HAS happened?

allhallows · 09/10/2005 21:18

JanH · 09/10/2005 21:18

His company is in administration and they have decided they don't need him.

doormat · 09/10/2005 21:23

sorry to hear that janh

nutcackle · 09/10/2005 21:23

Sorry to hear this Jan

JanH · 09/10/2005 21:25

He works in IT in a retail company and he thought he would be OK but obviously they have to save where they can and he has not been working full-time so the administrators think he's not essential.

His boss knows he is and has been pleading his case and threatening to go himself, but it didn't work. DH reckons they can probably struggle through.

Are you working, Jan?

gingerbear · 09/10/2005 21:28

Did you find out on Friday? Have you had time to think about things? Will he get redundancy payment?
Oh Jan, I wish I could offer some practical advice. DH was made redundant at 32, but it is a whole different ball game at 53.

AuntyQuated · 09/10/2005 21:28

oh...i am so sorry to hear this jan

dh (also in IT) was without a job for 8 months. he reckons the market is improving so fingers crossed for your DH
