DH has £200 to spend on " boys toys" - suggestions please!!

DH has been told by his company that as he's worked for them for 10 years, they'd like to buy him a present up to the value of £200! Alright for some, however he's pretty stuck for ideas as of course now that he has an opportunity to spend some cash on himself he doesn't know what he wants!! (It has to be something as the company will do a presentation, so he can't just ask for cash.)

Anyway, I thought where best to get suggestions but MN. So if any of you have suggestions please post them here.

(He / we have been trying to think of something that he wouldn't normally be able to afford, hence some kind of gadget, although of course if you can think of something better.....)

I look forward to the replies....

could he ask for vouchers from Next/M&S so he can buy clothes?
If not: mobile phone, expensive razor, a watch, digital camera

NottsMum · 02/10/2005 18:39

He sounds spoilt now, he has the watch (not an expensive one mind), a digital camera, PDA/mobile phone(through work)and he's got an MP3 player which he doesn't use v.much.

He does like techie stuff though...

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2005 18:42

sailing course

then he can take you on a yachting holiday

happymerryberries · 02/10/2005 18:45

sat nav for the car?

NottsMum · 02/10/2005 23:39

Sat nav's on the PDA..... (he's stressing behind me that he sounds spoilt, ha ha)

Sailing... I shall run it by him but I don't think he's gonna go for it.

Now you know what i mean when I say this is proving to be a dilema. Now if I was being given this present, I could think of a ton of ways to spend it.....

Lessons in something (eg flying? advanced driving? golf?)

NottsMum · 02/10/2005 23:52

I'm glad I'm not the only late nighter. (Been working, yawn).

Good suggestions Satine but he said to me tonight he'd like something to keep.

How about theatre vouchers so he can take you out for a night on the town ?

Kayleigh · 02/10/2005 23:56

ooops, just read your last post - theatre vouchers are not really something you can keep

vampiremelly · 03/10/2005 03:31

Sky+ box? If you have sky that is I really want sky+

WideWebWitch · 03/10/2005 07:44

GeorginaA · 03/10/2005 08:22

Also Firebox is a good gadget/boys toys site.

HappyDaddy · 03/10/2005 09:17

Sony PSP, is brilliant.

expatinscotland · 03/10/2005 09:18

Hasn't the PlayStation gone portable now? That'd be a good idea!

NottsMum · 03/10/2005 09:44

You're going to say that this man is hard to please - I suggested Playstation but he's not into playing games and we've already got Tivo (v.similar to Sky - and yes it's FAB )

I'll tell him about the two websites though.

Please keep posting your ideas!

Sony PSP nt only plays games, you can watch films, listen to music and surf the net on it. I've got SpiderMan2 for it and the sound and picture quality is just as good as DVD.

morningpaper · 03/10/2005 10:05

What about something for the house ... I'd really like a kit for making drive gates automatic ... Or some PIR lights for the house entrance ... Or some fancy pole-lights for the garden ... Or a mad water feature to keep the children amused all summer ... Or a massive scaletrix for the attic ... Or an electronic weather station ... Or some X10 devices to make your house fully automated at the touch of a button...

Maplin (the electronic firm) has all sorts of gadgets that might appeal.

MummyJules · 03/10/2005 10:43

What about a telescope?

NottsMum · 03/10/2005 12:59

Ooh, a telescope. I remember a long time ago he talked about wanting one of those.

Morningpaper, really good suggestions. I shall pass them on...

The PSP does sound fantastic but DH is a bit of a gadget freak and over the years has built up his hifi/tv/dvd/surround sound kit and he already has 2 work laptops which all do what the PSP does!!
