....

I've only gone and got meeself a Cleaner!

Couldn't believe how little it costs. Its going to make such a huge difference to our lives.... the kids actually might get some stuff ironed and the bathroom has been neglected horribly (really horribly!)!

Just had to post this coz I'm so ridiculously excited about it. >so sad

Darn! Was that all you had to do to get into the MN clique!

Turns out I've been in the clique, then back out again and I didn't know it!!!

Enjoy Toothache! I would agree in the grand scheme of things it's not that expensive and if it is going to make a big difference to your life then go for it!

Enid · 26/09/2005 09:58

well done toothy

now remember you do have to manage them properly otherwise they will start to irritate you.

LadyTophamHatt · 26/09/2005 09:58

Now, TA....you've been here long enough to know that the C word is a bad bad BAD word.

Toothache · 26/09/2005 09:58

lol MrsSpoon.

Next I'm getting a gardener.

ponce

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:00

She's only coming 3 hours a week.... but my house is tiny so she should be able to give the kitchen a lick of paint on her 1st day I think.

Ooooh, a gardener as well! That might get you into trouble, remember Desperate Housewives?

marthamoo · 26/09/2005 10:01

Well I can't talk to you anymore 'cos I'm in the "Poor Relations, Scuzzy Unclean House, Can't Afford a Cleaner Mumsnet Clique"

iota · 26/09/2005 10:02

I used to use a cleaning agency but they were so half-hearted that I got rid of them -- I much prefer my ironing service

flamebat · 26/09/2005 10:02

I'd want to scrub my house from top to bottom before she turned up though so she didn't see it so dirty!!!

So, by me not getting a cleaner, I'm saving myself money and work

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:05

I have thought about the work I will have to put in to prepare the house for her arrival..... then decided "aaaah f*ck it". It'll give a good challenge on the first visit.

Gardener.... Mmmmmmmmm.....

Where abouts are you, Toothy? Since ours gave us the sack about 2 years ago, you can write your name in our dust. It seems (from friends) there are lots of Brazilian peeps willing to come and clean, but I can't find one.

And how can I justify being a SAHM, and having a cleaner

expatinscotland · 26/09/2005 10:08

By having a busy social life, Carla. That always worked for my mum. She's STILL got a cleaner and no kids at home on top of that.

sweetkitty · 26/09/2005 10:09

congrats toothy you won't want to know me know boring SAHM without domestic help

Carla · 26/09/2005 10:10

Aaagh, yes, expat. I forgot about that one

iota · 26/09/2005 10:11

carla - I'm a SAHM who has an ironing service - -I justify it on the grounds that my osteopath told me ironing was bad for my RSI (so's computing but one must prioritise )

expatinscotland · 26/09/2005 10:11

Join a bridge club, a poker league, an arts council. Entertain a lot. Take ballet lessons. You won't have time to clean!

Carmenere · 26/09/2005 10:12

Marthamoo, can I be in your clique? Sounds about right for me

teeavee · 26/09/2005 10:18

careful you don't scare her off with all the mess toothache!

don't yo9u have to 'declutter' and tidy before the cleaner's arrival, so that she only does the actual cleaning...?
(not that I'd know personally, but my friend's cleaner resigned in tears cos of the mess she encountered in her house!)

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:19

... forgive me for being naive.... but..... WHY do you need a Cleaner if you're a SAHM?????????

We'are out the house from 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. The Cleaner just means when we are at home we're not constantly trying to squeeze in housework instead of spending precious time with our babies. When I work 4 days per week there was no need, I could do my housework no probs. But then I only live in a 2 bedroomed semi.... tis tiny!

Hey nowt boring about being a SAHM!!! We all do the same thing, but in different locations.... you're on MN, I'm on MN....only difference is that my work are paying the connection.

Why do you need a cleaner if you're a SAHM? Hmmm, dunno, cuz you can? Or, I prefer an old quotation I once read in GQ mag: 'You could live without it, but why?'

iota · 26/09/2005 10:20

Toothache you are sooo naive - -SAHMs need a cleaner because they don't like cleaning it's boring -- that's why men don't like doing it either

dropinthe · 26/09/2005 10:20

I just want an ironing lady.

iota · 26/09/2005 10:21

and ditto for the ironing in my case

expatinscotland · 26/09/2005 10:21

People still iron?! . I no longer buy things that need ironed. Yuk. Now THAT is boring!
