....

I've only gone and got meeself a Cleaner!

Couldn't believe how little it costs. Its going to make such a huge difference to our lives.... the kids actually might get some stuff ironed and the bathroom has been neglected horribly (really horribly!)!

Just had to post this coz I'm so ridiculously excited about it. >so sad

Dropinthe - She's going to iron for me too!

£9.50 per hour. Not bad eh?

To be honest I actually prefer being a SAHM than working at my old job just wish the pay and hours were a bit better.

Good for you toothy I think I would consider a cleaner too if I were working full time.

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:26

SK - I used to think Cleaners were only for wealthy people! But its only an extra £120 per month.

I did go out and spend a stupid (in my opinion) amount yesterday on a new hoover for her though. DOH!

I want a cleaner! it would help sooo much. Reckon I could stretch to that amount of money as well. my house is tiny so would only need a couple of hours a week

trace2 · 26/09/2005 10:26

Toothach where do you live, because cleaners round here only charge £ 5 to £6 an hour {yorkshire]

MrsSpoon · 26/09/2005 10:28

I had a cleaner when only working a few hours from home, I basically just wasn't coping, live in a victorian semi and were rennovating at the time. Just couldn't do it when DS2 was little and still b/feeding.

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:28

Trace2 - Thats what I thought.... but its through an Agency. I wanted to go through an agency rather than hire someone independantly coz I'm going to have to give her a key to my house! I'm in Scotland BTW.

Toothy ...

  1. You have to go to your local shops, plus town shops. That takes the best part of 3 hours.

  2. Your dds insist your dog comes to school - therefore no chance of getting home, getting the stuff in the 'fridge, picking up the dog .... and taking him to school.

  3. There are bits of your house that have been untouched in 2 years, and you want them touched.

Any good?

Toothache · 26/09/2005 10:31

lol Carla. When I was working 4 days a week I just felt like I had SOOOOOOOO much time to do stuff! It was a total novelty. So I think if I was a SAHM (kids would clearly still go to Nursery 2 days a week ) I'd have plenty time to do the housework.... but absolutely NO inclination.

i used to do cleaning working for myself, pepole got me though someone eles, and i had a waiting list, because them from agency can only do so much, and they are bl##dy lazy. sorry dont want to put you off. there not all bad.

Carla · 26/09/2005 10:57

OK, you lot have managed to convince me I need one again. Anyone know of a cleaner in Oxon who:

Likes children.

Likes dogs

Is prepared for the kitchen to look like the garden?

Gobbledigook · 26/09/2005 10:59

D'you know what - I've always said I wouldn't want a cleaner - dont' want another person in my house doing my jobs - but I'm seriously considering atm. I'm going to go into meltdown if I don't do something!

Gobbledigook · 26/09/2005 11:01

Oh yes, I already have a gardener and he is looooovely - young, tanned, muscular, dark hair!!! Lovely to watch him strutting up and down the lawn on a summers day I can tell you!!

Toothache · 26/09/2005 11:04

lol GDG!

We are also wanting to put the house on the market ASAP... but the mammoth task of getting it in a fit state for viewing is actually caused me to drink excessively. My Cleaner should ease my pain.

I had two different agencies and ended up employing someone who did it for themselves, through a little ad in the local shop. The agencies would always start well and then go downhill.

sharklet · 26/09/2005 12:24

If only.....

tigermoth · 26/09/2005 12:57

I wonder who will start a mumsnetcleaners.com website - a place to share cleaning tips for those who clean up the houses of mumsnet posters.

dropinthe · 26/09/2005 13:04

Does anyone know of a website that recomends cleaners/IRONERS etc in your local area??

Enid · 26/09/2005 13:09

new hoover and iron essential for cleaners/ironers

otherwise they moan

also leave the products you want them to use out in the room you want them to use them in

otherwise they use one product on everything IME

Toothache · 26/09/2005 13:12

Enid - Apparently they bring their own cleaning products/dusters etc. I just supply the hoover and iron.

good for you toothy. I have one and I love her. She keeps me sane and the house clean!

MrsSpoon · 26/09/2005 14:03

LOL Enid and if they moan about the old hoover, you get a new hoover, they love new hoover, fantastic etc, etc, a few weeks later they are declaring the old hoover was better!!! Arrrrgh! Or was that just my cleaner?

trace2 · 26/09/2005 14:07
