Anyone got a car from Yes car credit or Welcome car finance ??

We are having increasing car probs and it seems that our car is on it's way out.

Dp has to have a car to get to work and so we were thinking of trying either one of those places. I know they don't have very good reputations but we have bad credit history and so normal places will be a no go.

Basically I need to know if anyone has a car from either place and the type of monthly repayments we would be looking at for a medium sized family car.

TIA

I was wondering this the other day nutty, they had a 1000 trade in thing on the condition you get the car and the finance from them....Wondered if the cars were ones that noone else would touch with a barge pole.

charliecat · 23/09/2005 16:39

LOL at the bargepoling from 2 of us

misdee · 23/09/2005 16:40

the car is ok, but stupidly high repayments. can you get a loan through someone else? i am getting a car soon, and if i dont have enough for the one i want (compensation cheque) then my dad is doing the loan for me. my credit rating is shot.

or can you just scrap some cash together? a skoda is cheap to run and insure. and cheap to get as well.

We brought a car from Welcome years ago and have only just finished paying it off. We were in a similar situation to you and had little choice but I wish we'd thought about our options more before leaping into a credit agreement with them.

We ended up paying over double what the car was worth because the interest payments were astonomical.

I think we were paying about £160 over 5 years for a Ford Mondeo.

We have had various problems with them over the years too and I am very glad to see the back of them, things like:-

Them taking double payments and not refunding our bank charges

Them not taking payments at all and refusing to refund int they charged.

Reluctance to provide us with settlement figures

etc etc etc

I would urge you not to use them if possible - unfortunalty I know what it's like to be in your situation where being ripped off is the only option!!

Can't scrape any cash together at all and can't get a loan either.

I saw an ad from one of the paces not long ago where they showed 4 different cars and the repayments were only £99 a month but i can't remember which one it was.

they don't sound to good then.

I know Yes car credit are bad cos the provident man (provident own yes car credit) told us he was ashamed to be associated with them.

but figure out how much 99 is each month over how long they say? a 5yr loan is almost 6k, i bet they sell you a 3k car. that sort of thing. my brother got his car as his girlfriend doesnt like to be seen in his souped up peugot, (body kit etc) so they have a normal unkitted car now, but its stupidly high. my brother is dyslexia and said he didnt figure out the cost before, now he wishes he didnt do it.

Oh yes i know what you mean but i really can't see any other option at the mo. My dad has said he will try and fix whatever it is on the car but he has said several times now that it's on it's way out really.

We are supposed to be going to blackpool next friday too

nutcracker · 23/09/2005 16:49

So are Welcome considered to be any better or just as bad ??

nutty stay away from yes..dont know about welcome. However a few years ago yes wanted us to get a car from them and we thought we couldnt get finance anywhere else so went along. They wanted £250 a month for a saxo that was about 3 yrs old and had all sorts of ciggie holes etc in it. We told them we knew we couldnt afford £250 then insurance etc and they basically kept hold of all our info for the credit for about 2 hrs leaving us sitting in a tiny room trying to persuade us to get thier car. When we said no they were extremely nasty.

I did see the programme on them about a year ago and was exactly how we had been treated and also showed that the cars were not given the 100 point check at all.

In the end we went to carcraft and got a brand new saxo for £100 a month.

misdee · 23/09/2005 17:13

just as bad i would think.

misdee · 23/09/2005 17:14

can you see if you can get finance anywhere?

Nemo1977 · 23/09/2005 17:16

meant to say when we got the carcraft car I did one of those voluntary hand backs last year [3yrs after buying] because i needed a bigger car with having ds. They were really good and I jus tphoned and someone came and checked car was in reasonable condition said everything was fine and took it away. Payments stopped straight away and I got a loan to buy a older renault scenic.

nutcracker · 23/09/2005 17:17

God it's just so crap, i mean dp has to have a car for work, no car, no work, no money.

They all sound so nasty. Carcraft sound about the best but then i don't think they do crdit probs do they ??

I really don't think we'd get a loan Misdee.
