Ours are fully tiled in large plain white tiles, plain white suite with a grey flecked vinyl floor and chrome accessories. Not got around to a blind or cabinets yet, but looking for large wall mounted cabinets with mirror fronts. doesn't look as cold as it sounds but you could add colour with towels (M and S have 20% off their essentials range atm) and blind etc.

This looks like a good site which a large range of taps, depends what you like.

If your floor is black and white chequer I would try and keep the wall tiles fairly plain, probably white, perhaps with a small border.

This could be quite nice with your black and white floor tiles. You could paint the bit of wall a pale blueish colour (looks like blue on the link anyway but could be green) and have darker matching towels/blind etc.

I really like these accessories for a black and white bathroom

tiredemma · 06/09/2005 16:05

turquoise/aqua blue goes well with black and white

I'd go with white then change the accessories with yuor mood - that way you have a new looking bathroom when you want at the fraction of the price

look at Fired Earth They do a gorgeous range of tiles called liquid glass, but I like most of their stuff!

Plain white tiles - the brick shaped ones are cool and will suit your decor - or just square ones. Paint the walls a lovely Farrow and Ball light blue or pale green (F&B expensive but totally worth it as have more pigment than other paints and so give more coverage and beautiful finish). Put tongue and groove around the bath. Install a chandelier for utter instant glam that you can take with you when you move. I would buy a house with this sort of bathroom, and I am quite picky.

aloha · 06/09/2005 21:58

Really, if you are going to sell soon, then definitely go with white tiles. Tumbled marble etc look lovely but are too expensive if you are going to sell soon, and also not quite right with b/w floor. White is the answer. Plus chandelier (Red Direct/Linda Barker/Laura Ashley/Bhs).

Second aloha.
We had brick shaped white tiles in our old Georgian house which we did over from top to bottom. Looked great.
Saw similar in a Hotel du Vin a month or so ago which also had matt grey walls which worked surprisingly well.

this might give you some more ideas

moondog · 06/09/2005 22:01

Definitely go with F&B paints. Worth the extra money without a doubt.

Builder talking crap! Of course you can have a chandelier! My friend has one in her bathroom, and shortly we shall have one in ours!

aloha · 06/09/2005 22:05
