I'm going to an extremely smart society party soon (pressure #1)and it has only just dawned on me that it is fancy dress (pressure #2). I'm 5 months pregnant and look about 7 months (pressure #3). The theme is "Wicked".

HEEEELLLLLLLLP

My only thought so far is that I could go as a nun (heavily pregnant nun is pretty wicked isn't it?) but not sure I fancy wearing a wimple all night.... please please come up with all and any suggestions, I'm getting a bit desperate and time is running out....

Nun is perfect!

morningpaper · 31/08/2005 21:41

Or bride in white?

SoupDragon · 31/08/2005 21:57

hmmmm.
do you think every pregnant woman there will be dressed like a nun? Mind you I'll probably be the only one, everyone else will be 5ft11 and weigh 7 stone.
poo.

can't you go as a sixties nun (mini dress and wimple rather than full length jobby? i don't suppose pregnant schoolgirl would go down too well.......????. no didn't think so...could you?

x

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 22:10

pregnant schoolgirl would be great, could do a sort of britney spears I guess. but pretty sure I don't look fabulous enough pregnant to pull it off...

I could just get a swingy black dress and wear it with a wimple and heels and really good makeup.

just seems a bit of a cliche to me but I can't think of anything better...

Wimple all night sounds fairly grim to me, even though the concept is witty.
Also, wimples are pretty unforgiving and you presumably want to look pretty as well as witty.
I think schoolgirl is sexier (worryingly) but you have good legs and could do it. Or you could just have a box of Milupa formula and hope that they read Mumsnet.

Heathcliffscathy · 31/08/2005 22:15

you'd look great in pigtails and it is wicked (in an old fashioned sense)? and painted on freckles, straw boater, school tie skewed, short-ish skirt and a hockey stick if you can get hold of one...pregnant st trinian....?

Wear your normal clothes and carry a six pack of special brew and 20 B&H.

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 22:18

what about if I wore a wimple with this?

I take your point aloha and sophable but it is a SERIOUSLY smart party and I'm not sure I can pull off the schoolgirl without looking like a hick.

I had the same dilemma princessph and unfortunately, i found that the only costume that actually fitted me (i was also huge at 5 months) was in fact the nuns costume.

aloha · 31/08/2005 22:19

Sophable, do you seriously think our PPH would have the slightest difficulty getting hold of a hockey stick?

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 22:20

brilliant idea millie... maybe if I wore a hat with a can of special brew on it....

except the worlds most famous milliner is going to be on my table. oh yes.

this is hopeless.

wear that and carry a very red very polished apple and drape a fake snake round your neck and go as a pregnant eve...(she did allegedly have kids?)

love the fags and booze idea, but hard to pull off

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 22:21

Yes but easy to put down when you get bored with your costume.

aloha · 31/08/2005 22:21

It's a beautiful dress PPH. To be honest I think pregnant ladies have a perfect get out clause when it comes to fancy dress (or any kind of dress code at all, to be honest). Anyway, you are pregnant. You must have been a bit wicked. Can't you just accessorise with a mask or tiara or something and everyone will assume you come as something but they can't guess what?

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 22:22

now THAT is a great idea Soph... Eve was definitely wicked.
What could dh go as? Adam obviously but how? Can't make him wear nothing but a fig leaf all night (tempting thought though it is...)

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 31/08/2005 22:22

it is gorgeous!

princesspeahead · 31/08/2005 23:29

well ordered the dress and now going to try and fit a theme around it. wimple a last resort. like the idea of eve. think I can hire a tame live python? lololol

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/09/2005 16:25

Just add a pair of little red devil horns? Or carry a tarnished halo and a battered pair of wings.

Thomcat · 01/09/2005 16:59

I love the Eve idea, wonderful, and I love Isabella Oliver, can't download that dress right now but I know it's beautiful. I just ordered bought the boob tube top and wore it on Monday, so lovley. I also got the wrap top. Lovely clothes from there.
Have a fab time btw.

princesspeahead · 02/09/2005 08:54

Well the dress has come and it is FANTASTIC! Makes me feel like a million dollars which I would have thought was completely impossible in my current state. Fits fantastically, unbelieveably flattering, makes me seem like I haven't got any lumpy bits (Ha! Miracle!) and now I'm REALLY looking forward to this party even if noone thinks I look remotely like Eve. Best £85 I ever spent.....

Just need a big apple. And some new killer heels. DH is going as the snake - in a snakeskin jacket and boots. Easier (and more wicked!) than Adam. Thank you for all your help!
