I'm going to an extremely smart society party soon (pressure #1)and it has only just dawned on me that it is fancy dress (pressure #2). I'm 5 months pregnant and look about 7 months (pressure #3). The theme is "Wicked".

HEEEELLLLLLLLP

My only thought so far is that I could go as a nun (heavily pregnant nun is pretty wicked isn't it?) but not sure I fancy wearing a wimple all night.... please please come up with all and any suggestions, I'm getting a bit desperate and time is running out....

how would a sari be wicked though??!!!
janh - I have to go, it is my dh's best friend and business partner's party, we have had about a year's notice.

also it is going to be SOOOOO over the top I couldn't possibly miss it...!

PPH - I would go in that fabulous dress and killer heals and wait for someone to ask you who you are, then say 'I'm lady Godiva, but I thought I would save my wickedness for after dinner'. Hopefully by the time dinner is over they will be so quiffy they won't notice you haven't disrobed

The dress is beautiful and I think shouldn't be over accessoried, possibly just a fake cigarette in a holder and a long bullwhip, hair 'up' long killer nails and some brilliant jewels

DH can go as your subject, collar and cuffs

milward · 03/09/2005 00:18

Go gothic - wear a isabella oliver long black skirt with one of the black tops. Acessorize & it'll look fab

ha! morticia adams! dh could go as lurch (there are some similarities, I must say...!) Dont think I have the hair for it. I'd have to wear a wig.

quite like the lady godiva idea. esp as one swift tug on the dress and there I would be, in knickers and heels.... could put dh in a pantomime horse outfit snigger

Oh morticia would be fantastic! No idea what either of you looks like but Mr & Mrs Addams easy to do and v striking

soapbox · 03/09/2005 00:28

AHem - don't recall Godiva wearing knickers The risk is of course that they don't get drunk and you have to display your wickedness - oh well if Demi Moore can do it...

PMSL at pantomine horse idea

princesspeahead · 03/09/2005 00:35

janh - I have a lot of extremely ringlety light brown/blondish hair, so if I was to turn up in a dead straight long black wig no-one would recognise me. which is a definite point in favour of the idea!

soapbox - 5mths pregnant and no knickers? cast your mind back to your last pregnancy..... hmmm.

ha! look at this uncle fester costume!!!!
poor dh. could I do it to him, do you think?

soapbox · 03/09/2005 00:39

PPH - my last pregnancy is so long ago now that I have managed to convince my self that I did look excatly like Demi Moore

On the other hand I do remember with getting pants that were comfortable either over or under the bump.

Surely, a knicker line under such a beautiful dress is surely to be avoided

Janh · 03/09/2005 00:40

I was thinking Gomez, not Fester. Too cruel.

soapbox · 03/09/2005 00:43

God - struggling to write in complete sentences in my last post. Should really be in bed.

Mmmm the Uncle Fester costume is good but I'm pretty sure that my DH would eat his own arm rather than turn up at a 'do' dressed like that

Janh · 03/09/2005 00:44

what are you drinking tonight, soapbox?

(If nothing, I think it's bedtime for you, young lady)

soapbox · 03/09/2005 00:52

A nice bottle of Chablis for me

But we did have a bottle of red as well when the children had dinner at Pizza Express earlier

Naughty naughty me

jabberwocky · 03/09/2005 02:27

Go as the Goddess Gaia - fit a world map over your bump and be the creative force that you are!

SoupDragon · 03/09/2005 08:44

Go with the posh frock, the fake cigarette holder and pretend to drink heavily throughout the evening - that's fairly wicked for a pregnany lady isn't it?

Beetroot's a genius! Morticia is fab and SEXY. Poor dh, don't make him Lurch, he can be the dashing Gomez. You could bring along the children too! I'm sure ds2 would make very fetching Pubert.
Black wig and lipstick - easy.
BTW still no email....sob. La Cod has it!

OR Sari, couple of extra arms (cardboard, pin them on behind you), and you are Kali the Goddess of Destruction. You can't get much wickeder than her.

jabberwocky · 04/09/2005 03:51

I went to a fancy deal at 5 months gone and wore a fab black clingy dress that plunged way down in the back and quite a bit in the front as well! It was marvelous. You could carry the Morticia thing off beautifully, I'm sure!
