Tea room 16 welcome to Shangri-la

Shangri-la = a hidden valley with beautiful views and crystal streams of course, and some inter-far eastern type of chalet things set around a Serene Courtyard with ever-blooming Japanese cherry trees, lots of refreshing fragrant teas, silk cushions, tinkling tiny waterfalls and bonsai trees, Gardens of Tranquillity etc.

Home to teh 16th Tea room, a haven for those with one or more or less children who like cake, tea, talking nonsense and oggling Mellors ( our handyman/ butler). If its your first vist, pull up a cushion .Mind out for the guinea pigs and other pets and do take care not to squash the teeny tiny naked mowhawk babies ( nmbs
, no longer naked and now toilet trained you will glad to hear)as they go about their duties helping Mellors.

Confused... come on, jump in and have a hot chocolate.

Do you want to share Tea ? Or shall I just send Mellors in to rub your feet and look broodingly at you ?

It's not on to keep you hanging if they said they'd let you know today Donki. Mind, when I interviewed for the company I work for now, it took them 5 weeks to let me know that I had the job !

You alright, Tea?

teafortwo · 22/06/2010 21:35

Mwaaa mwaaa (double kisses everyone) - I knew you lot would cheer me up!!!!

Tis not stuff for 'tinterweb - but just needed some tlc... and With Mellors massage and the tea ladies sweet words I am feeling better.

Merci!

[pain au chocolat emotion... iyswim]

UniS · 22/06/2010 21:51

Unis pops in again. waves. Nice to see you all.
Amber would you mind giving my hair a trim? I really MUST get over my dislike of/ fear of ladies hairdressers and get a trim, teh split ends have split ends. I'm just scared they will ask me questions about style.... I want a hair cut, bit shorter and tidy please.

Tis turning out to be a flaming June again. I guess there have been some grass fires around as we heard fire engines rushing past the village twice today. When it rains I shall plant out carrots, no point before then. Mean time we are down to recycling bath water for garden watering, the water buts are nearly empty.

Bolly top up any one? and a little twiglet surprise on teh side?

Mmmm, pain au chocolat and eton mess .... ((Hugs)) for Tea and a comb and cold flannel for Mellors.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 22/06/2010 22:09

Did someone mention Bolly?

teafortwo · 22/06/2010 22:11

Mellors after his haircut...

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 22/06/2010 22:24

You seem to have got your links crossed, Tea. This is Mellors after Amber gave him a short back and sides.

Scout19075 · 22/06/2010 22:42

Talked to the DH of the woman who offered me all of the goodies tonight (he was waiting for his DD as I was going in (early) to my Guide meeting). He asked if we wanted the bed and said DD's big girl bed is arriving in a few days. I have a feeling they won't take money, but will offer. Sounds like Thursday will be a good day to go over to collect the other bits, so will take cake, wine and goodies for DD then. Gives me tomorrow to get something sorted (and cake baked). Now to decide what type of cake.... amaretto? chocolate? vanilla? victoria sponge? coffee flavored? tea flavored? lemon? something else? Decisions, decisions!

And have realized I need to get sorted for Seniors tomorrow. ACK!

Could go for a large iced tea right about now.

oxeye · 22/06/2010 23:12

heh there Tea, hope you are cheering up soon. Sad that Amber's scissors slipped and cut Mellors' face

Donki any news?

Welcome home AandO how was the family love in?

UniS did you find that cheque? Perhaps it eased its way over to Dublin to help AandO's problems ...

Yes to bolly and twiglets, no to Eton Mess....

As a sweet gift I would get something that is a sort of kit - a use up sort of kit - my best ever present was a post office set, with things to fill in and stamp etc....

thumbwitch · 23/06/2010 02:12

oh yes, always a good idea to ask what they want done with the stuff afterwards - some people are just lending and do want it back, others are happy for it to enter the general "pass it on" loop.

Cake - stick to fairly simple but not coffee. They might love coffee, they might hate it - it's one of those flavours (lots of people do hate it). How about a marble cake? Chocolate and vanilla - that's always a good one because it's a bit different and a bit of a pita to do yourself, iyswim. Or you could demonstrate your roots and do a pecan pie!

Tea - sorry you're feeling under the weather.

I have now found a compadre who also saw last night's Grey's Anatomy and she was also traumatised by it - she said it was like being hit by a train so I'm glad it wasn't just me being feeble!

amberlight · 23/06/2010 08:21

I'll have you know that Ambers only use patented safety scissors that can only cut hair!

Survived having my boundaries examined

Need to get to work...lack the incentive...

Who's for a hot drink and a slice of toast with beautifully hand-painted butter designs on it?

MaryBS · 23/06/2010 08:30

Its the kids' sports day today! DH is coming, his work don't believe that its sports day, and think he's skiving off for the football

Scout19075 · 23/06/2010 08:32

Oooo, marble cake I love doing marble cakes! (Not so good with the making of pies must improve!)

How is everyone this fine Wednesday morning?

I've just noticed that BabyScout's stroller is still in the back yard, where I parked it yesterday afternoon. Drat! Probably means damp bum for BabyScout as I do need to use it today for errands into town.

Have an extensive to do list today and unfortunately the house stuff is being pushed to the bottom of the priority list. Good thing BabyScout is fairly flexible and open in his routine of eating and napping (as long as he does both he's happy, but he's not a strict 12:07 I must be eating and 1:13 I must be in my sleepy-space sort of boy, iykwim).

Any news, Donki?

Are you okay this morning, Tea?

Are you still bothered by Grey's, thumb, or is the episode fading into the distant memories?

MaryBS · 23/06/2010 08:34

I always find a Victoria sponge goes down well!

thumbwitch · 23/06/2010 08:54

SCout, bless you for asking, the trauma had faded by this morning. I'm still not entirely sure what was triggered but it's untriggered again now.

Mary, hope you have good weather for the Sports Day. Lol re marble cake!

Amber - hope your boundaries aren't stretched too much in the examining - keep hold of them with both hands!

Have just seen the news about the Budget - amd for all of you in the UK re. the VAT! The rest seems to be more or less what was expected but I didn't know about the VAT increase

Donki · 23/06/2010 09:36

How are you Tea?

Still waiting for a 'phone call - I a may decide to 'phone the school shortly. I suspect they have offered it to someone else who is thinking about it (i.e waiting for another interview). No evidence for this of course - but 'tis unusual to be kept waiting for an interview result in education.

Mind you - depending on feedback, I may go and join Tea in the priest hole again...

Donki · 23/06/2010 10:28

I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB!
I know it is only temporary but:
I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB!

It was getting so disheartening filling in endless job applications and then never hearing because I was applying on a job-share basis for full time posts. I was close to giving up.

I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB, I GOT THE JOB!
(just in case you didn't catch it the first time)

Scout19075 · 23/06/2010 10:29

WAHOO!!!

YAY Donki!!

Donki · 23/06/2010 10:36

Carrot cake! Thankyou Scout!

Tea anyone? Scout?

Scout19075 · 23/06/2010 10:47

You're welcome, Donki. Yes please to tea -- sugar, no milk, thanks.

Think I hear BabyScout waking from his morning sleep. Means we can start running our errands in a few minutes. Checked out the stroller left in the yard all night -- not wet at all, so no damp bum for BabyScout!

Anyone know anything about wine? Am off to get a bottle of red and a bottle of white and the ingredients for cake. As well as lots of things needed for Guides/Seniors/Centenary events.

Donki · 23/06/2010 10:50

Erm? I like red wine? I'm not sure that's much help to you though...

Have fun with your centenary events Scout!

amberlight · 23/06/2010 10:57

Yay Donki!!!!!!!!!!

CMOTdibbler · 23/06/2010 11:05

Gooooooooooooo Donki

Starting in September for a year ?

For white wine, a reasonably priced nice wine is Oyster Bay (do not confuse with Cloudy bay which is vvvv nice but much wonga), and I don't think you can go far wrong with Jacobs Creek for red

Shall we have cream cakes this morning to celebrate Donkis good news ? I fancy a big fat chocolate eclair (like I haven't had in RL for 12 years or more)
