Tea room 16 welcome to Shangri-la

UniS · 15/06/2010 19:33

Shangri-la = a hidden valley with beautiful views and crystal streams of course, and some inter-far eastern type of chalet things set around a Serene Courtyard with ever-blooming Japanese cherry trees, lots of refreshing fragrant teas, silk cushions, tinkling tiny waterfalls and bonsai trees, Gardens of Tranquillity etc.

Home to teh 16th Tea room, a haven for those with one or more or less children who like cake, tea, talking nonsense and oggling Mellors ( our handyman/ butler). If its your first vist, pull up a cushion .Mind out for the guinea pigs and other pets and do take care not to squash the teeny tiny naked mowhawk babies ( nmbs
, no longer naked and now toilet trained you will glad to hear)as they go about their duties helping Mellors.

Confused... come on, jump in and have a hot chocolate.

I tried to be very calm. It is someone whom I very much like and would trust with every secret I have ... but I have no right to expose DH's problems. Much as he may drive me mad at times, I want everyone else to like him and admire him (because I love him very much really.)

It sounds as if your sister is getting help, AandO. Again from personal experience, events/influences from her childhood which could be causing her problems may be unrecognisable to you ie not issues at all.

AandO · 20/07/2010 21:56

So this person uses MN and had just noticed that RC seemed similar to xxx(your name in RL) and put two and two together? Even if you would trust her it's still strange to have unwittingly told her info about your life. Does she know about the tea room?

Best get back to work

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/07/2010 22:02

Not the tea room. Looking at an education strand which addresses issues which concern us both. It is not the name but the ranting strongly held beliefs which identified me.

mistlethrush · 20/07/2010 22:27

Dog asleep and dreaming. Mistlechick asleep - went off very quickly after an extreemly large supper.

UniS's house is nicer than she was suggesting when she was extolling its virtues...

Given a 4 and a 5 yo boy combination - I think that they both did amazingly well. There was some stroppyness on the part of mistlechick - but he's still feeling a little bit blue because of us being abandoned by dh yesterday..

And, no, climbing for another geocache with mistlechick was fine - I'm just glad that I managed not to drop boy in the stream at the same time during throwing sticks in whilst we waited....

Bolly anyone?

UniS · 20/07/2010 22:31

please. may I have a chocolate flavoured boly, do you think such a drink would be paletable...

MT- boy VERY keen on that green T-shirt, he finished up his day wearing that and school shorts as we were pretty wet after our walk up to the shop and back splashing in the puddles .

I was too busy being mortified to do anything but bundle BabyScout into the car and get out of the area. HubbyScout says I should have taken pictures and called the police -- I didn't know that sort of thing was illegal here!

I don't know how I'd act if I was outted. You are very calm -- I think I'd be pooing a house.

Am so very tired but lots to do before bed.

oxeye · 20/07/2010 22:43

Of course aando it was Winona and the sanwixhes. Christina spent her time in the bath holding her breath!! Yes thumb I too loved the underwater light show
when I lived in aus the blue mountains were still more than an hours drive from Sydney end rather exotic. Glad you had a top time.
My family seem rather sane. My typing is however crap. I have had wine and am on the phone. I must go. Guess what, I have work before a meeting tomorrow

Scout19075 · 20/07/2010 22:45

Is it sad that we've done nothing but laugh at the news and newsnight tonight?

mistlethrush · 20/07/2010 22:47

That Tshirt was definitely mc's favourite Tshirt... It got quite a bit of wear - and would have been worn for longer apart from the inappropriate number on the front. I really liked the colour - really unusual to find that colour (emerald) for boys I think. And whilst the pattern motif for the figure is big enough for the wearer to be concious of it, its too small to be noticed by most on-lookers.

For anyone that's wondering, rasberry, fudge and marshmallow icecream is REALLY nice - mistlechick would have eaten the rest but we thought that UniS's dh might have not appreciated that...

And both mistlechick and boy are both quite good at knocking down jenga blocks when its their turn to remove one...

oxeye · 20/07/2010 22:49

Hang on. An Unwitting Outing? Oh. That's concerning UnQC. Did she say "well hello Mn name" in an "I'll be outing you" way or did she just say "crikey mn name" like it just slipped out?

oxeye · 20/07/2010 22:52

So glad the meet up went well Mistle and UniS

UniS · 20/07/2010 23:01

DH liked the raspberry fudge mallow ice cream too. I think I'll try a raspberry pavolova ice cream next. Lemon meringue may be worth a try too with biscuity bits in as well as meringue .

Not sure who has or hasn't seen this thread so am posting it here for everyone to please go and read who hasn't yet:
Drowning doesn't look how you'd expect it to - vital info on how to recognise it

thumbwitch · 20/07/2010 23:29

whoops - meant to post that before I went to bed - didn't manage it so just posted it without refreshing.

USQC - Argh! Lucky it was a nice friend but still, Argh! Good name now though.

MT and UniS - great meetup by the sound of it, glad it went well and am very of the ice cream, it sounds lush. As does raspberry pavlova icecream.

I think my favourite is a Ben & Jerry's one called Cupid something or other - it's raspberry and white chocolate and it's fabulous. But I like any combination of raspberry and/or chocolate ice cream.

about sisters with worrying mental states - very hard to deal with, I would think.

MrThumb tried his first glass of wine in 22m this weekend - a Grand Cru from Chablis (we bought it when we went there) - and was unable to finish the glass as he said it was like drinking vodka, the alcohol was so strong!. He had a glass of red wine with the meal but couldn't drink more than a sip - and has now gone back to his rather good de-alcoholised Shiraz as being preferable. Good thing in one way but a bit sad - he was so looking forward to it and then it was such a let down.

teafortwo · 20/07/2010 23:43

Hmmm... I wonder too if I should be a bit more careful about maybe one day putting myself at risk of being outed by the wrong person at the wrong moment... but then I am quite careful about what I do and don't post... eeeeeerrrrmmmmm.... I think.... actually I am not really....

But I do so love a mn wave and that feeling of belonging that comes from always using the same name and posting in and around the same places iyswim.

How did it happen wriggle's mum???

WOW WOW WOW!!! I am glad the meet up was such a success!!!

Scout19075 · 21/07/2010 00:11

Small -- I'm waiting eagerly to hear about the edible fires and the s'mores! How'd it go?!

Very envious of meet-up -- glad to hear it went well! Ice cream sounds divine.

MaryBS · 21/07/2010 10:02

I LOVE lemon meringue ice cream!

AandO · 21/07/2010 11:01

Morning everyone .

I'm chirpy today. I slept in until 9.30!! Also yesterday we had someone come around and look at the house. She seemed lovely and really interested. She said she'll get in touch today, so I'm being hopeful. Thanks Small for the house letting vibes .

Hey Mary, how're you? Haven't heard from you in a while. How is your dd?

Scout - at antics outside your house!!

Thumb - I looked at the link for a second and was instantly sobbing. Will try to actually read it properly later though as it would be good to know these signs.

RC - Any further thoughts/plans on your trip and AP? DH also travels in the back with LittleO on long journeys. He doesn't drive so I have to and so he is on entertainment duty.

AandO · 21/07/2010 15:42

Where is everyone?! I'm losing my chirpiness (ok that spelling is totally wrong ) as the potential tenant has not got back to me yet.

Scout19075 · 21/07/2010 15:51

I'm here!

Decided that my spaghetti icing looked a bit funny, so have tried again. So now instead of wheat pasta I have slightly bright yellow pasta. ARGH! I can't win. Oh well. I think I'd rather have the bright yellow than the speckly brown.

I have an orange BabyScout thanks to messy play. The HV at the weigh clinic kept making comments about his orangeness but I just smiled sweetly and said "He had a really good time and is going to go back in and do another messy activity so no point in washing him!"

AandO · 21/07/2010 16:07

Woohoo, she said she wants to rent the house!!! She can be in in a month.

Scout19075 · 21/07/2010 16:17

YAY!!!

Spaghetti cake to celebrate, AandO?

thumbwitch · 21/07/2010 16:23

That's good news, A&O - pleased for you.

Am slightly disturbed at general concept of spaghetti icing, whatever colour. This could be because miniThumb makes play-do spaghetti every week at playgroup. It's not working for me...

Have another go at reading that drowning link, A&O - it's so worth it.

Scout19075 · 21/07/2010 16:36

It actually looks a bit better than I thought it would. Needs more spaghetti icing, I think, but the meatballs and sauce are on so too late. I think next time I'll try it on a cake instead of cupcakes.

AandO · 21/07/2010 16:48

Thanks guys! I'm delighted. She seemed nice and perfect for our small house as it is just her and her two year old son.

Best go pick dh and LittleO up from the library - there is a thunder storm outside and they had walked down.

Scout - what was babyscout playing with that made him orange?
