Tea Room the Fifteenth - The Viking Hall

Here we are in the 15th instalment of the Tea Room for the One Child Family board. All are welcome, whether parents of a single splendid offspring or any other number.
We are this time in a Viking Long Hall tearoom, complete with optional helmets, roaring log fires (in case of chilly spring evenings), rugs aplenty, and all the usual mod cons of life as well.
Our Viking tea room contains Mellors the gardener/handyperson with a talent for relaxing massage (amongst a variety of other characters including Bishops, camels, bison, horses, guinea pigs, dogs, etc etc for reasons that would take too long to explain but you're welcome to read the other Tea Room threads and prepare to have your mind thoroughly boggled). Plenty of tea/coffee/cake/virtual bolly always on offer.
Join us, relax, chat, enjoy.

yes, SmallBunch, time for deep breaths and a LARGE gin and tonic and stay in here! You know it can get very nasty out there when MNers start counting their children. Mellors has already pronounced the Long Hut Ribena free.

CMOTdibbler · 09/06/2010 20:47

Maybe we could pool children ? I can just see Wriggle and CMOTiddler pretending to showjump the berry bushes as ponies. Maybe not what they had in mind though.

Racing, I have to say that I could never live with either of my parents without murder being committed within weeks. They drive me insane enough at a distance, and at least I can MN when on the phone to mum so I don't interrupt her when she is rambling about something where half the words are missing (she is best left to get on with it, rather than supplying words or trying to stop repeat tellings).

DS had a lovely day at school, behaved himself, but wants to go again tomorrow.

RacingSnake · 09/06/2010 21:24

Well done, CMOTiddler!

Have some great-day-at-school bunting!

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 09/06/2010 21:48

Oh I am letting it lie. We never buy the product and I have no desire to appear in any promotional film for it. But I am simply interested that someone, presumably, at Product HQ believes that the ideal family for advertising purposes has no fewer than 2 and no more than 3 children. It's sociology, innit?

I've always assumed that on the rare occasions when we drink squash rather than exotic fruit juices freshly squeezed by Mellors (that's the fruit, not the drinkers ) it is some wholesome organic brand bought from the local farm shop.

Racing mentioned gin and Mellors has got his cocktail shaker out. Would anyone care to join me in a gimlet?

CMOTdibbler · 09/06/2010 21:52

A gimlet sounds heavenly. After 7 hours of driving today I am plum tuckered out.

I don't buy it either, but now shall deliberatly not buy it instead iyswim

Sympathies to all with APs.x x x x x

my family, bar my Grandmother who suffers terribly with ever lasting mental scars from a terribly neglected and unloved childhood 'her nerves', are all of the fit and feisty type at the mo and I dread the day they are not.

GUESS WHAT!!! I have a new job !

Mary - We are nearly there with sorting out Milk's friendship problems. It has been very long, emotionally and physically tiring and tough on us both. I have learnt a lot about her and myself in the process but... THANK [insert word of your choosing] these things do come to an end!

teafortwo · 09/06/2010 22:01

I don't look like any of these women...

Is it ok to try a gimlet anyway...???

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 09/06/2010 22:08

Oh [insert that word again] is the gimlet a SATC kind of drink? I was hoping more for Jazz Age elegance.

Tell us about your job, Tea. Does it involve wafting around the more chic arrondissements, dressed in Chanel?

make mine a pint.

oxeye · 09/06/2010 22:55

Arse. I'm going to have to chuck out my Ribena

I know just what you mean Small, fact is them at Product HQ have plenty strange ideas about perfect family - number, age etc I am sure colour, sex of parents, able/disabled and all sort of things they are not allowed to state play a part too......

Gissa a Gimlet. Too cool for school

YAH to Tiddler and tell us about job Tea? I hope it is suitably wafty. Glad Milk is happier, how is DD getting on Mary?

I would say that while one does expect to be served first at one's banquets the true sign of good manners is not to mind if one is served last

UniS · 09/06/2010 23:03

unis slips over sideways again and drools.

Scout19075 · 09/06/2010 23:05

I like the Star Wars Mr Potato Head. And can even accept the England footballer one. But Elvis -- dear God, no!

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 09/06/2010 23:05

Oh, Oxeye! If you're going to do that to a lady, you ought to give us due warning.

teafortwo · 09/06/2010 23:05

Oh yes - of course I had, for a second, forgotten about the jazz age [how could I???]. I would love to have been a flapper.

In terms of my N.J, small - Oh no no no... I have had enough of all that jazz this year!!!

My N.J will involve lots of hanging around in the Montmartre area and probably learning poetry! I will possibly be wearing a beautiful silk scarf as well which I will start to dramatically swish to make myself seem arty and interesting! I will, obviously be hanging out with a few very successful musicians; and many cool people of various nationalities.

[N.J sounds more interesting and carefree than it really is when I put it like that emotion]

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 09/06/2010 23:08

Ooh, Tea. A job in Montmartre. Oooh la la!

oxeye · 09/06/2010 23:11

While I sit here, parched as the Sahara, may I just gasp out Tea that your job sounds lovely

oxeye · 09/06/2010 23:13

the kitten is eating my lap top wire .... this may be my last post .....
