The One and Only TEA Room: Everyone Welcome (bring champagne and muffins please!)

Wow, we're on our third thread!!!
Previous (second) incarnation of the tea room.

A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

CMot - I'll have a look for them. I got them in a sale, they didn't get too much wear, so plenty left. I'll let you know if/when I find them

Catita · 01/02/2009 22:20

As they say here, "a bit of tequila for when you feel goo/and when you feel bad too!"

Catita · 01/02/2009 22:20

good, even

daisy99divine · 01/02/2009 23:54

Welcome Catita!

My DaisyBoy who is 2 1/2 has a charlie and lola book. His best page has ants on it because two of the ants have mexican hats and the first time I read it I did a little song for them and there are four ants without hats who have another song

Now, having turned to that page 10,000,000 times I wish the songs were a bit shorter

that is the closest we have been so far to Mexico but am happy to have a tequila night strictly in the interests of cultural understanding you know

My DS has just been skiing for the first time. Well, standing on skis that slide gently down a very very shallow hill. He found it easy. We found it knackering - we have to run beside him and then carry him back up the hill
but UniS you will have fun

love to all others, I shall put a watch on the thread and then I can find you wherever you get to!

Right, DCMB, hand over that Rocky Road!!!

daisy99divine · 01/02/2009 23:55

Am a bit at feet - didn't realise enormous feet were another entry criteria to the tea room!

daisy99divine · 01/02/2009 23:56

Glad you had a good lunch and weekend Mistle - your family could do with a bit of fun!

Catita · 02/02/2009 03:35

Hola Daisy99divine The big feet criteria is a bit worrying

daisy99divine · 02/02/2009 03:56

that is a good point but I think therefore my DS is alreay a Mum since he has a song for every occasion - albeit on a theme

Puddle Song - Puddle, puddle, puddle, splash

Fishfinger song - Fishfinger fishfinger fa la la

Grandma song - Grandma grandma, grandma other grandma grandpa

Do you spot a theme? Tune doesn't type out so well....

Catita · 02/02/2009 04:10

It sounds like your DS is showing definite promise.. can you sign him up for Britain's Got Talent or something similar?
My DS is still too young to sing yet (13 months)but will jump up and down on his bum excitedly at the bath song/the tea song/the nappy changing song (yes really... I try not to sing it whe he has just done a poo obviously. The mess does not bear thinking about).
The poor love has also obviously inherited his mum's total lack of musical sense. I can't sing for toffee. In fact the neighbours keep askking me if I've killed the cat...

There's a thread to the thread?!

No, no can find.

This morning, thanks to the fact that I backed up my blog and can now search it, I can share with you my musical achievements from DD's early months. First up, the Bobblehead Song:

I'm a little bobblehead
I go bobble all day long
I'm a little bobblehead
Bobble and I sing this song

A tribute to Ivan the rabbit, who has since had a sex change and is now Mummy Rabbit:

Ivan, Ivan, he's our bunny!
He likes to snuggle you on your tummy!
Ivan, Ivan, has no fear!
He doesn't mind if you suck his ear!
Ivan, Ivan, he's not picky!
He doesn't care if you make him sticky!
Ivan, Ivan, he's soft and blue!
You love him and he loves you!

And last but by no means least, the Flying Baby Song (has actions):

Flying baby flying through the air
Flying baby hasn't got much hair
Flying baby standing on her feet
Flying baby likes a lot to eat
Flying baby come to save the world
Flying baby is a little girl
Flying baby, flying baby
Flying baby - rarr!

DD currently either sings primary school-type songs about God (CofE school, two atheist parents, 'tis interesting), TV theme tunes, Abba, or her own compositions which tend to go 'and soooooo ... lalala ... here is the shoooooowww ... it is meeeee and my shooooow' and so on.

zazen · 02/02/2009 09:34

LOOK! SNOW!

Yes, we have snow this morning - quite a thick blankie - still falling out of darkened skies. DD was up and down like a yoyo in the night being cold - blimey, I'm so wrecked - now I know why I've only one She was obviously thrashing round and lost her duvet.
I put her in her thermals for school: With her uniform on top of course

Did someone say hot chocolate? Mummm, thanks, don't mind if I do. Think I'll have a shot of espresso in it as well [bleary] Can I get some for anyone else, while I'm up?

I'm loving the songs DontCallMebaby - too cute.
My Dh and I have crazed Limerick sessions - we speak in verse - the mood hits us and sometimes lasts for a few days - until the moon changes phase anyway .

Hola Catita!

mistlethrush · 02/02/2009 09:46

Yes, we've got snow too - enough to close the school, but this largely on the basis of hte weather warning for later in the day rather than an inability to get them there today - which I managed fine (until I parked the car - road is a hill, I got out of the car, the car decided to start off down the hill on its own with ds still in the back towards the back of a parked car. Panicing and not knowing what to do I held the open dorr and door frame and pulled backwards - luckily the car stopped ) at which point we were told the school had closed - so drove home again, then back, past school into the office. Hot chocolate would be really nice

amber32002 · 02/02/2009 10:34

Snow!!!! About 3 ins of it.

DS totally disgusted as his school is open, and all the others aren't.

DH has had a very alarming start. He tried to move the elderly Jaguar on the sloping driveway, and ended up sideways on, heading for dsis's car at some pace. Luckily, it stopped. This is why I have a Land Rover . Dsis and I rescued the situation with large bag of grit and some muttering.
Have given staff the day off, so I can do some work from home today.

And yes, the problems of smelly trainers are well known to us, but a large can of anti-trainer-product seems to work well

Much needed hot choc here too.

boccadellaverita · 02/02/2009 10:35

DCMB - Am loving the songs. The ones we made up for BabyBocca are never to be repeated outside these walls (and, curses, I've forgotten the one that was actually quite good.)

Well, we set off for school, wading though the snow, but turned round when we met BabyBocca's classmate who was trudging home. BabyBocca, glancing at the MN screen, just asked me 'is this your usual Monday lifestyle, mummy? I don't know what to say!

Meanwhile, SignorBocca has clumped off to the station, looking for trains. His boss has just rung to tell him not to bother, but all mobile networks here seem to be down so I can't reach him to pass on the message.

Who else would like a hot chocolate? Racingpig seems to have polished off the last of the rocky road but I'm sure we have some flapjack left.

amber32002 · 02/02/2009 10:52

Should Mellors be out in the snow with only his boots on?

boccadellaverita · 02/02/2009 10:57

Oh no.

I thought Mellors' naturist phase was just that and he was now clothed again. Now he's lying down in the snow making snow angels. The man will get frostbite.

mistlethrush · 02/02/2009 10:58

Do you think he has heard of frostbite? Although it does actually look as though he is trying to look Sweedish and pretend that he's just had a sauna. I'm not sure that we've got one of those - although I may be wrong

amber32002 · 02/02/2009 11:26
daisy99divine · 02/02/2009 13:03

Oh glory be! Will nobody stop Mellors cutting down the hazel switch? I don't care if he wants to beat himself to improve the sensation

boccadellaverita · 02/02/2009 13:06

Amber? Mellors? Justabout? Where are you?

Do you want some soup for lunch? We have some tasty lentil or vegetable broth.

cmotdibbler · 02/02/2009 13:18

Lentil soup please ! We have only just started to have heavy snow, and CMOTchap and I bunked off work (being home based we are still supposed to be working) to do a final test drive of our short list. And now the eternal style over price debate goes on.

I used to go out with a guy whose parents were naturists, and their club used to hire the ice rink for nude skating sessions. In fact they used to do a lot of scary things

DS now makes up his own songs, which are really funny. We do have a cheerleading stylee one for excellent use of the potty, which he now performs himself with the dance

Good to see you, justabout. So if it wasn't your bathrobe outside the sauna, whose was it? Do we have squatters in the priests' hole? The mystery deepens! Hope the D&V bug soon passes. Would you like to borrow the tea room mop?

Good to see you too, Cmot. My mind is boggling at the implications of nude skating.

Here, both, have some soup. Because this is the magical tea room, it caters for all ddietary requirements.
