Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

I got a 1st for my eating apples (first produce I have ever submitted into a show, and not entered anything since I was a child) and mc got 2nd for his scones - and tips on how to get 1st next year!

Have crashed out this evening for a couple of hours after mowing the meadow that the lawn has become - we've eventually managed to contact the person that was meant to be cutting it - he's hurt his back but didn't bother to let us know Hmm

:: Pins MT's rosette to the tearoom wall ::

:: Offers Vaseline and washing powder to Unis ::

:: Pours more Wine to celebrate award winning apples and scones and 100 mile bike rides ::

UniS · 01/09/2012 23:30

WOW MT- well done, how do you like them apples!

Unis pins bunting around MTs rosette.

mistlethrush · 01/09/2012 23:34

Grin They are delicious too.

The bike ride sounds fantastic UniS... I shall have to pick your brains about what bikes I should really be looking at for mc's next one.

Hello!!
I haven't read back to catch up - I hope that you will forgive me. Congratulations to MT on her apples! We haven't had any apples at all this year (4 cherry sized ones don't count) due to the weather. The YD is most disappointed as it is his tree (a birthday present from a friend a number of years ago).

School on Monday. I am not ready. Arrrgh!

Hot chocolate in the bucket on the side with optional brandy if anyone would like!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 09:21

Morning all!

Our horticultural show was a strange affair, too. Some classes had no entries because of the various crop failures this year. This perhaps worked to the advantage of Famille Maud as we all won several prizes and The Bloke even won a cup.

LaBelle - I'm sorry to hear that life is difficult.

::Interrupts snogging to clasp you to her ample bosom::

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 11:40

Rock, anyone?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 15:49

I don't like rock ::ungrateful:: but have you got any cinder toffee?

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 18:51

I'm not sure what cinder toffee is but I'm sure there's some in the selection box! Would you like some fudge?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 18:54

It's like the inside of a Crunchie bar. I am addicted to it quite like it.

The Girl and I have been eating fudge today. Envy

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 19:06

I'm not sure I've ever had a Crunchie bar. Blush

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 19:13

Oh, Scout. You haven't lived!

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 19:14

I'm just glad I survived the week, Maud, never mind about living!

Will add Crunchie bar to my re-stock the house shopping list.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 19:16

Oh dear. Was it very traumatic exasperating tiring?

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 19:19

Oh Maud, even more than one could say. I didn't even tell you about the extent of the windmill awfulness just a week or two before and I should say I got over my pettiness long before the event. But holiday is over and we have all survived and Toddler was thoroughly spoiled. We're at the in-laws until tomorrow then back to Scoutshire via YOUCounty where MrScout is currently working.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 19:23

Ah. What do you need first - a glass of Wine, a platter of Twiglets a la Mode or a foot rub from the ever-present Mellors?

Scout19075 · 02/09/2012 19:27

Can I have all three at once or is that too greedy?

UniS, we waved in your direction but I didn't find out I was getting v. close to HomeoftheUniS family until late at night the night before or I'd tried to do a personal wave.

Toddler had a lovely holiday, though -- beaches, steam train rides, cream teas every day, trips to the toy shop that had train tables & ball pits and lots of presents from Nana & Grandpa.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 19:55

Just try not to spill the Wine on the fluffy white towels, then, Scout!

beanandspud · 02/09/2012 21:04

Cheers all!

UniS · 02/09/2012 21:44

given that we are just back from our hols in a different part of devon, you would probably have missed us scout, so worry not. I am not in the least bit slighted. did you get to the trains at Okehampton then? We stopped at teh station for lunch on our way home along the cycle path. boy scoffed lots of cake. good to see he has the makings of a British cyclist. Mucho sympathy for windmill awfulness... what ever that is a euphemism for.

I have no incoming e-mail! arghhh, ISP mail thingy is down. BUM.

Shall we have a tea room horticultural show? we could work out which classes we need so that we can all be sole entries and then award ourselves lots of rosettes. Am I the only cucumber grower among us? Looks like MT has the early apples, tho mellors may give MC a run for his money in the mens scones class.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 21:51

Ahem. The Bloke has just won the cup for most points in the domestic classes, against all comers, so I think Mellors is going to need to up his game.

beanandspud · 02/09/2012 22:00

I could win the 'gardening failure' award for the most unopened packets of seeds [category shamelessly stolen from GQT this afternoon] Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/09/2012 22:09

Erm, I might run you a close second there, bean. I have just bought myself a fancy tin for storing seed packets, but I am resolved to buy and sow fewer next year as they are just doomed to fail so tricky.
