Episode 32 - The New Zealand tea room

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/01/2012 22:06

Well folks, here we are, beside the hot springs of New Zealand.

The tea room (with the customary distressed chintz sofa) overlooks the steaming, bubbling lake. For the bold and sporty, hiking, biking and sky-diving are on offer. Personally, I'm not planning to leave the spa.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly. The cardinal rule remains: no fisticuffs.

sorry if that was a bit TMI. didn't mean to make you green.oops.

Still made a change room policing X and Y who are prone to bashing each others heads on the floor.

UniS · 21/03/2012 23:07

FROM, not room, sorry.

CMOTDibbler · 22/03/2012 09:30

Tiddler proudly brought me a dead mouse at the stables on Sunday, and demanded that we 'send it to the afterlife' Hmm. After a discussion about this, he decided that we would leave it under a bench so he could watch it become a skeleton. Nice.

I feel bad today 'mummy, can you look at your calendar and see if you can pick me up with the other mummies ?' And he can already see on Outlook that the computer says no. So we compromised that he would go to late club until I could get there, rather than football - tomorrow I have to go to Leeds so won't see him till Sunday

UniS · 22/03/2012 09:38

yea, here comes the sun, burning through the mist at last. hurrah, my spirit lifts.

Scout19075 · 22/03/2012 13:12

GLORIOUS day here in Scoutshire. Had a good swimming class then picnic and play at the playground with Toddler's friend and her brother. He's now napping and I'm taking ten minutes to myself. Whew!

Don't worry, UniS, I think it was as much my fault as anything -- I had one too many Reeses last night on top of stirfry and nice biscuits.

mistlethrush · 22/03/2012 13:12

CMOT when, where? Lunch? Coffee? Osteopath at 6.30 but I might be able to convince DH that he can miss karate afterwards....

CMOTDibbler · 22/03/2012 13:20

MT - my conference is at the Armouries, and have to be there by 7pm Fri for the conference dinner, but could meet you somewhere before your osteopath appt ?

Tis gorgeous here too

mistlethrush · 22/03/2012 13:33

OK - well my schedule goes something like... parent's evening, pick DS from after school club (he thinks its a big treat and will be very cross to be picked up as early as 5!!!) take him home - then nothing until osteopath which is in Headingley at 6.30. So probably have about 45mins if we can make it Headingley direction?

Scout19075 · 22/03/2012 20:20

Toddler had swimming, two trips to the park/playground and one picnic lunch today. No wonder he's exhausted!

oxeye · 23/03/2012 16:11

AFternoon ladies! How lovely is this weather Grin
feeling a bit battered by work so have come here for a shufty. Glad all well

Boy playing in sun, wish I was too!
Only one more week until Oxbloke canoes home - can't wait!

mistlethrush · 23/03/2012 17:35

oooh that will be nice Oxeye! Hope he has an uneventful paddle home.

Are you able to share any of the angst from work at all?

Jacksmania · 23/03/2012 17:39

Oxeye ((((HUGS))))
I can't imagine how you cope with your DH being away so much. Or how Scout copes with Mr. Scout working away all day.

Has anyone seen UnSerpent around? Or heard from her? I don't have her email address and for some reason she's not on my FB anymore :( and I was just wondering how she was.

grabs a Wine runs back to labelling for NCT sale (trying to get things out of house whilst the mood persists)

Scout19075 · 24/03/2012 21:54

Lovely day in London with my fabulous Seniors unit. I'm exhausted and off to bed soon.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/03/2012 22:12

::Shuffles in, trying not to share her germs::

Anyone want to join me in a medicinal hot toddy?

beanandspud · 24/03/2012 22:15

Maud, I'll join you. Are you still not feeling better? Have you seen your GP?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/03/2012 22:21

::hands Bean a steaming mug of hot toddy::

Thank you for the

::Trying not to sneeze on you::

My GP has one of those impenetrable appointment systems that means that, by the time you get to see a doctor, you are either better or dead. Last time I had this, I went to the NHS walk-in centre where they said that antibiotics would be no use so I should inhale salt steam.

OP posts:
beanandspud · 24/03/2012 23:15

That sounds rotten Maud, although I am familiar and have lost my temper with those sorts of appointment systems. Hope you begin to feel better. How is Girl?

Sending you all sorts of medicine only available in the Tearoom.

oxeye · 25/03/2012 20:08

Poor Maud, well it is the GP putting into practise via appointment system the key element of GP work - most things are self limiting
it just cuts out the comforting bit where the GP looks at you then says come back in a week if you're not better

no fun though. Don't hurt yourself in the steam haze. I'm after a whisky and honey no problem!

Mistle, thanks for concern, difficult to share, but mostly too much to do, not enough time and administrative inefficiency heaping burdens onto my platter....

JM lovely to see you - did you get good response to your child management thread? I mean to PM you, it's a bit personal on t'interweb for me

no news from UnSerp for ages from moi, we've only PM'd so need contact here first!

UniS · 26/03/2012 20:20

morning all. news from Chez uni is that there is tummy bug running around. Poor ole DH was a fantastic nurse last night to both Boy and I , he only had to clean up D&V from boy, I was much tidier Envy tea room style TMI.

I'm about to push teh food boat out and have a digestive biscuit, glass of water and some paracetamols.... I have managed to keep a small amount of food down in last 12 hours- hurrah.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/03/2012 20:28

Oh dear, UniS. That sounds grim. Hope you're over the worst of it.

Oxeye - As you are being so stoic and brave, I am willing to shuffle along the distressed chintz sofa and allow you the privilege of sitting next to cardboard George.

I hope everyone's feeling better soon!

UniS · 27/03/2012 20:31

All on the mend in chez uni. I think boy has quite enjoyed his second day off school. I did make him do his spelling test and some reading and some number work while we played shops.
Must have been a quiet classroom yesterday, at least 3 village kids laid low by the bug.

So, now I'm fit to be touching virtual food again, who would like a crumpet and honey?
