Episode 32 - The New Zealand tea room

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/01/2012 22:06

Well folks, here we are, beside the hot springs of New Zealand.

The tea room (with the customary distressed chintz sofa) overlooks the steaming, bubbling lake. For the bold and sporty, hiking, biking and sky-diving are on offer. Personally, I'm not planning to leave the spa.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly. The cardinal rule remains: no fisticuffs.

Good morning/afternoon/evening all, sorry for falling off the thread again, rough weekend at the Jack household.
How's everyone?
Wine, Biscuit and [brew} over -> here.

UniS · 19/03/2012 19:14

Thank you for ginger bun, nice and sticky.

I have decided to cancel an event I'm running.... want to hide, but will have to make difficult phone calls in teh morning.

Does anyone have any magic powder to help the teeth that really want to come through to actually come through?! Darn Toddler's unmoving molars!

mistlethrush · 19/03/2012 22:07

Scout - have you got the teethers that go in the fridge? We had 3 that on bad days we circled them - one in use, one cooling, one cooler, ready to go....

Scout19075 · 19/03/2012 22:17

MT, Toddler would never, ever use them. Ever. He chews his paci (dummy) instead. Having to hold a teether means he doesn't have a free hand to play "TRAINS!" and that would make him crabby.

I'm just wondering how long is it going to take these bloody things to come through.... It feels like ages. Poor Toddler. Sad

UniS · 20/03/2012 10:29

poor ole TS - funny how "trains" is the more important thing tho.... Boy is big on tractors currently- keener than ever after his uncle came to visit yesterday and bought a late birthday present tractor & telehandler ( lucky boy, generous relatives) . tiny tele is not really a toy, packaging said " suitable for age 14+" and I had to unscrew it from its display stand... but boy is pretty careful with his treasured toys, so he should get some enjoyment from tiny tele before it breaks. beautifully engineered little model that it is.

I'm quite comfy here in the priest hole, just popped in for a break from difficult phone calls and e-mails.. everyone I've spoken too has been very nice about it all.

Scout19075 · 20/03/2012 15:03

I think, UniS, that Toddler is a bit obsessed with his trains. Some mornings when I go in to him that's the first thing out of his mouth -- "Trains? Downstairs trains pay (play)."

I can only imagine how excited he'll be on Saturday when we get to go on TWO trains (down and back to London) AND on the underground.

nice smore- thank you. one morning of difficult phone calls and e-mails done, tomorrow I get to have a long session of telephone/ internet banking and do all the refunds. Oh Joy.

Scout19075 · 20/03/2012 20:55

Would you like another, UniS?

To any current or former Guiders/Guides -- if you're in London (KXG) around 9:15 on Saturday come join us for a Promise Ceremony.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2012 21:22

Good evening, Maud?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2012 21:36

Yes, but I'm convinced I'm going deaf!

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 20/03/2012 21:46

What?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2012 22:12

Exactly, Scout! I used to be able to hear what the adults were saying to me above the shrieking voices of the Brownies, but now I need an ear trumpet. So either the Brownies are getting shriekier (quite likely) or I'm going deaf.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 21/03/2012 10:23

I think Brownies are getting shrieker. We've noticed it at Wednesday Seniors meetings (when we meet at the same time as Brownies). Even Toddler gives a start sometimes in a "What the HECK are they DOING out there?!" sort of way. He doesn't do that with the Rainbows or Guides.

Jacksmania · 21/03/2012 19:26

Any more s'mores going around? :o

How is everyone?
JB and I had a very good day together on Monday please god let this afternoon be as goos so I'm feeling a bit less crap better. Thanks for the chocs and blanket down the priest hole :) Thanks

Scout19075 · 21/03/2012 19:44

Always s'mores available, JM! How many would you like?

Jacksmania · 21/03/2012 20:14

I'll start with one or two and see how many more I can stuff in how I go on :o

beanandspud · 21/03/2012 20:25

Good evening!

Glad you had a good day with JB, JM.

Offers hearing aids, chocolate , cake, ear muffs and Wine to all those in need.

Scout - Small Bean is exactly the same with trains - it doesn't wear off, just gets more detailed and complicated information! Wish I could join you on Saturday but not very practical I'm afraid.

UniS · 21/03/2012 21:30

Unis sticks her head out of teh priest hole. any more people about t that I have to disappoint?? no, good. I'lll come out then.

I think 7 and 8 and 9 year olds are VERY shreiky, maybe they have always been that way. but they sure shreik at school lunchtime. One 7 year old today decided to prod with their fingers at a dismembered ( and probably regurgitated small mammal intestine they found on the school field ( we are very rural remember), THEN lick their fingers.... grosss. They were sent to wash their hands and were strangely reluctant to use soap. revolting creatures many of them.

CAn I make any one a nice hot toddy?

Scout19075 · 21/03/2012 22:03

Ugh, UniS, that's made me feel a bit (tea room special) Envy.
