"Ooh I expect mornings are so easy in your house with just one child"

Said my new neighbour yesterday morning as we met outside whilst bundling our kids into the car for the school run (I have one she has 2)

I just smiled sweetly but would love a little something I can say back at her. She is lovely but has made a fair few comments regarding me having just 1 child.

Is it just me or is this a bit rude?

Next time she says that, I'd be tempted to say, "It would be easier with none."

It must be easIER with one but it'salzo not necessarily easy

It takes both DH and me to get DD up, fed, ready for nursery in the morning, another would completely throw that into chaos!

I know it's an old thread but I've just read it. I have experienced the other side of the coin ie: I have 4 and regularly have parents of onlies passing smug comments and pitying glances my way. It drives me mad. A friend of mine regularly used to pop into my house (having just dropped her only off, or sometimes with DC in tow) 5 minutes before I was due to leave the house.

Anyone who enters my house 5 minutes before we're due to leave for school needs to surrender all sense of sanity at the door! I honestly think she took some sort of wierd pleasure in seeing me struggle to get crying baby in the pram and out the door whilst trying to make sure the dog didn't escape, and prising fighting DCs apart. Without doubt (IMO) she used the whole experience to reaffirm the fact that her life was perfect and calm and serene and mine was beyond total chaos! Give me chaos above quiet and serenity any day but that's just me and each to their own. Anyway, I would never ever say anything like the neighbour said to the OP because if I were the OP it would drive me mad. OP YADNBU but your neighbour and my friend are!!
