Dd3 started at her little nursery today and loved - refused to leave when she was due to be picked up - which is obvioulsy very positive . We are happy with it too, but I ma just curious as to what people think about the price. She is there from 8 till 4.30, but we are charged for the full day - which is fair enough I think. She gets morning snack, cooked lunch and afternoon tea, 7 3-5 year old in each room, and it costs £167.10 per week. is this reasonable? I only ask as the other two dc's were at state nurseries which was free.

So that works out at 33.42 per day? Seems fine to me - I pay 36 per day or 35 if she doesn't have tea.

It's a lot less than we pay here in SW London, but then we do seem to be the most expensive part of the country nursery-wise.

Yes. That's a very reasonable fee ime. Ds's nursery is £35 per day + £1.50 if you want a hot lunch (I send a packed lunch).

£35/36 is typical round here and yours works out just over £33 doesn't it?

We would be charged for the full day whatever hours we send ds. You're paying for the place, up to you what hours you use and ds quite often goes 11am-5.30 if dh is on a late shift.

My DS started at nursery today!

The nursery we use is available from 8am-6pm and costs £31. something a day. My DS is in for one session a day at £19 which is from 8am-1pm although he goes in later than 8am and leaves earlier than 1pm so they do well out of me! So it's about £155 a week. If you want a cooked lunch it is a further £2 a day but they do get a fruit snack for free during the day.

is she there 5 days? If so approx £33 for full day seems reasonable. Ours charges £39 for a full day.

Have you had your vouchers, they'll kick in the term after she turns 3, and most accept them in lieu of some of the payment. (I think?)

Yes, we get 15 hours a week free. I thought it was pretty good - considering the childminder she used to go to from 8.30 till 5 was roughly £32 a day.

Yup, the dreaded curse of South East childcare!
I pay to go to work! My wage is £10 less than the nursery fees a month
Glad I enjoy my job as much a DS enjoys nursery!

Mine is £40 per day - and I'm in Yorkshire, which is supposed to be cheap (presumably to make up for the weather!)

DS is £20 from 8-1pm which will drop to £19 once he hits 18months, DD is £10 for the same time as she has nursery vouchers.

My DD3 is at a Sure Start Children's Centre nursery and we pay £140.50 a week (£28.10 a day) for a full time place - 5 days, 0800-1800 with breakfast, snacks, a hot cooked 2 course lunch, and a 2 course tea. It's fantastic

When she gets her funding it will reduce the price further, in the term times at least.

Just seen the first month's invoice and it's £408 with the free funding, so I guess that's ok! We're in cambridge too, so I reckon I've done ok.

yep £33 a day sounds reasonable

dd's is £49 - I share the curse of the cost of the south east will be like winning the lottery every month when she goes to school lol

We're in the South Manchester/East Cheshire region and full-time private day nurseries are anywhere from £45 to £55 a day (snack, hot lunch and tea included). Seems the same as the SE ...

Where I live it is pretty cheap. I pay about 600 a month. Don't forget to ask your employer if they have a voucher/salary sacrifice scheme also...

Depends where you are, ours is £28.00 a day or £15.00 a session but if you're claiming your free 15 hours, we charge £3.00 an hour top ups.
