Been told today that the nursery will close next Wednesday.

Gedi · 24/10/2007 20:33

Yes - I found out today too. Very sad day - the Chorley nursery was one of the best in the area. Shame it has to go.

Crocky · 24/10/2007 20:48

Gedi, who are you??
My dd is at the Chorley one. Dragonflies.

Crocky · 24/10/2007 20:58

Bump in the hope Geddi is still about.
Have you made a start looking for an alternative. I have a place for her to go to but am really not happy about it. Just can't see any alternative.

Small world! Mine is in the same room! I'm Rebecca's mum..who are you?

Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:10

Katy's.
See you Sunday?

OP posts:
Gedi · 24/10/2007 21:12

Yes - see you on Sunday! What's the other nursery?

Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:12

Playdor.

Not found an alternative but only contacted two - one was full and the other (BBees at Chorley NHS) are getting back to me tomorrow. Was thinking of organising a night out for the rm 5 mums.

Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:19

Think a night out would be a lovely idea.

OP posts:
Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:20

Which other one did you try.
I have been told the other BBees has space and Highfield.

OP posts:
Gedi · 24/10/2007 21:24

I tried Little Acorns which is close to me. I think all the BBees has spaces and The Hollies and Alexandra Kindergarten. Would just like her to go to one with a familiar face! I am sure she will adjust - just me, been going there so long now, such a shock today. Understand the chances of getting deposit back is slim - I think it's already been spent.

mumsville · 24/10/2007 21:27

Is it all Primary Steps nurseries.

I'm at Finchley and I was told that staff would hear today - that nurseries had been bought not as a job lot but by different providers.

Mad panic - I've only just started a new job.

What's the news - is it all of them shutting? My ds loves his nursery.

Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:29

I have heard that it is all the old Academy nurseries that are sited in Next Generation Gyms. They are closing them because the rent is too high for them to be viable.

OP posts:
Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:31

Heard bad things about the Hollies.
What about our vouchers, do you know if they will be transferred?

OP posts:
mumsville · 24/10/2007 21:33

Mine isn't situated in one of those. I'm sure we'd have heard today too as ds was there today.

I'm so sorry for you - my ds has only just settled in. I might be sorry for me too a shortly.

I'm calling them first thing.

I did email customer services two weeks ago and had heard nothing so I was a bit suspicious.

Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:35

All the letters were organised and handed out today and the nursery rang all the parents as soon as they heard.
I would think that if you did not get told today you will be fine.

OP posts:
Crocky · 24/10/2007 21:37

My dd has been there since she was 8 months old and has only got another 9 months at nursery.
She loves it there and has some wonderful friends. I hate having to move her now.

OP posts:
Gedi · 24/10/2007 21:37

I'm hoping for BBees - there's not that many good nurseries in this area, that's why I am so gutted. Dunno about the vouchers - someone told me that they can put in a claim to get a refund for the extra curricular activities providing they had a receipt or anything that has been paid for in advance. Contact the administrators they should know.
I was told that the Chorley one was one of the best money-making nurseries (within the PS group). Perhaps Next Gen should take it over.

loveheart77 · 31/10/2007 22:07

just been reading some of these posts are most of you from round chorley?
i used to work at a nursery in chorley i know of a few so please be carefull choosing a new nursery have a good look round ask questions and check how many staff they have.

Gedi · 09/11/2007 11:37

Have just found out that a new creche facility called Tinies will be opening at the Chorley one next year. I think it's going to be for Next Generation members only. Shame for Next Gen that most of the nursery parents who were also members of the club have or are about to give up their membership.

Crocky · 09/11/2007 18:44

Hi Gedi, how is dd doing at the new nursery?
Why are they all giving up their membership?
Am still waiting to hear from N about the get together she was planning for the end of the month.

OP posts:
Gedi · 09/11/2007 21:58

Hi - does N have your contact details? She has sent an email out. I have planned a night out Thurs 15th at MH, 7.30 for a meal, later if just a drink. DD is doing ok - she likes the new place. Taking me some time getting used to the staff. What about your dd?
Quite a few I know who are members (and had their children at PS) are quite annoyed with Next Gen's input (I was told there were 2 buyers but NG refused to let them buy unless they paid the debt owing). Also - it's not as convenient anymore - some of them would go to the gym before they picked DD/DS.

Crocky · 09/11/2007 23:03

She has my phone no. but not email.

OP posts:
Crocky · 09/11/2007 23:05

It's taken dd a while to settle, yesterday was the first day she seemed to enjoy herself. Still talking a lot about old nursery and friends though.

Mumsville, I am in Finchley too. Got a call today that if nothing changes re: the sale of the Finchley branch, they will be closing on Friday. Help, where do I find a nursery at such short notice?
