Cherubin's near Tulse Hill - long complaint!!!!!

Dd - 16 mths- has been there for nearly a year now and while she was in the baby room we were pretty satisfied - the staff were lovely and she settled in really well. I even recommended it on here!

Since moving up a room in January things seem to have really gone down hill. Two weeks ago she came home with dirty underwear and poo around her buttocks. She smelt and was both sore and uncomfortable. We raised it with staff who said they would speak to the people responsible. Yesterday she came home and was SO sore and inflamed that she screamed and shook as I tried to change her nappy. Again we have reported it and have been told that management will look into it.

I know the manager has been off for a while and is due back in a couple of weeks but I am furous about this. If the school where I work fell apart like this when the head was off we would be slaughtered - and rightly so! She has been fed processed crap despite the fact that they maintain that they make everything fresh. As for a key worker? I have been given a name but have no idea who that person is. I don't think she even works in the room any more.

Are there any other MNers out there who have their kids at Cherubins? Wondering what other people's experiences are?

TIA

"Looking into it" is not good enough. They need to tell you exactly what the circumstances were which let this happen and what steps they are planning to take to make sure it does not happen again. This should not take long for them to find out and if you ring to make an appointment to talk to whoever is in charge they should be able to give you all the facts this afternoon when you pick her up.

Gut feel is so important - if you are not happy then there is probably a good reason why.

I have actually looked at their website today - there are 'employment opportunities' for manager, deputy, nursery nurses, nursery assistants and catering staff. Says it all really! I fell really let down by them.

OH MY GOD!!!!!

I am in a situation with them at the moment and am looking round to move my son who is 2. I had a long rant this morning to the owner about a number of things that have happened that are not good enough. Your mail sounds like me.

I would love to chat less publicly if you want to. my son is on one of the Ethan rooms.

tiredteacher · 20/03/2007 14:30

So is dd - can you CAT me?

I've just sent you a rather long message via "Contact another mumsnetter". Really sorry but I had to get it off my chest!

Let me know if you don't get it. Hopefully we shall speak soon.

tiredteacher · 20/03/2007 14:33

Spoke to Nelly's this morning but waiting list is soooo long. They are currently placing children who have been on since Nov 05 and dd has only been on there since Jan 07. Not much hope there!

A friend sent hers to Asquiths which is near Tulse Hill. For a time my dd was at Ruskin House up at Herne Hill which we were happy with.

sandradee · 20/03/2007 14:38

Thanks crumpet.

TT - I'm looking at Eveline Day nursery as a possible but not sure.

otherwise am possibly interested in a nanny share if you are interested? Not sure how financially viable that is.

let's chat!

bossykate · 20/03/2007 14:40

hello i recommend elm park, clarence ave, sw4. i'd say it's about a 10/15 min walk from cherubin's towards clapham south.

oh dear. another mnetter used cherubin's and was happy - things can change v. quickly.

tiredteacher · 20/03/2007 14:41

Will do - waiting for your email! How wierd to think that I could have passed another MNer on my way past the honky wheelie bins and not known about it!!!!

Afraid we've already made the break out of London...

We had a very good au pair for a while - there is a language school on the Pavement at Clapham Common - might be worth calling them to see if there are any students there who'd be interested in working as an au pair?

tiredteacher · 20/03/2007 14:43

Clapham is really the wrong direction for us I'm afraid. We are more West NOrwood way...

oops I don't think you were talking to me!

Blu · 20/03/2007 14:45

DS was there when they first opened. it was brilliant, but....
CAT me?

sandradee · 20/03/2007 14:46

Yes very wierd. I'm not going to say the name of the room but if you go upstairs (the main ones) do you have to go all the way round to the room at the end?

Can't wait to speak soon!

bossykate · 20/03/2007 14:47

blu will confirm that elm park is really not that far from cherubin's...

but obviously you are the best judge of what is doable

good luck in your search - it is miserable when childcare arrangements break down.

sandradee · 20/03/2007 14:50

Hi Bossy kat, thanks for the message. A friend has their child at Elm park - is that one on Clarence Avenue? I did look at it since it's actually quite convenient for where we live but the hours unfortunately would not work for my job, which is why Cherubins was good. The problem is that I have already cahnged my hours to accommodate so not sure if i could then do tis again.

So much to consider.

bossykate · 20/03/2007 14:51

yes the same one.

sandradee · 20/03/2007 14:57

Blue

Not sure if you meant for me or tired teacher to cat you but I have snet you a message anyway.

tiredteacher · 20/03/2007 15:07

Sandradee - they are in the same room!!!! Have emailed you!

Had 2 DDs at Eveline Day. A while back now, but can't praise them highly enough. Might not look as fancy as others, but tlc is second to none IMO.
