well, my adp (scotlands pip), came through finally after change of circumstance. So I’ve ordered a motability car and blue badge.

I got an email just now saying my blue badge is on its way shortly and I pick up my motability car on Monday.

im bloody thrilled, everything will be so much easier for me now.

oh I have it based purely on mental health, autism and adhd reasons.

Congrats OP i remember it was massive relief when I finally got awarded lower rate of pip (England)
I had to go to court virtually and my boss had to support me and tell them how disabled I was 🤦and the court awarded it
it is awful the way people are treated but I am glad you got there

Sorry its an old thread but how long was the wait? I applied early Feb for some reasons but not heard anything back yet

MyEyesAreBleeding · 02/06/2023 06:40

If you search the sub there are a few long running PIP threads discussing timelines etc x

Ah maybe I'm being an idiot but I couldn't find any for adp! The search function on mn though always confuses me though!

i phoned pip last august for a change of circumstance, transfer completed early December. Got forms mid jan, sent back early feb, they weren’t uploaded till mid march. So they escalated it, Mid April. I went on live chat beginning of may and they said it hadn’t been looked at. Then I got a letter mid may.

i think the change of circumstance is much quicker than normal applications. So I think that’s why mine was much quicker once they’d got all the forms and stuff.

here’s a thread for adult disability payment https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4688262-adult-disability-payment

Adult disability payment | Mumsnet

Looking for advice on this benefit. I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to...

Op this is bloody marvellous news as it gives me hope that more of us in Scotland could get this - well done!

I received DLA for another medical condition for many years, but when I came up here they had started PIP and I was denied. I could not cope with an appeal as the interview for PIP was awful; the guy spent the whole time moaning about his bad back and was incredibly rude.

Poyia · 18/06/2023 11:46

For anyone searching like I was for people saying their timelines when I posted earlier, just to let you know mine rough timelines, applied 1st Feb got my results back yesterday.
I'm debating appealing the second mobility part, but there's not really enough info on the Scottish appeals one, so might just leave it, as the whole thing was stress!

This post makes me so angry. I have multiple sclerosis (i.e a physical disability) I have to work full time, pay monthly rent, all bills yet I cannot afford a car. Yet someone with ‘mental’ disabilities get what is, to me, a free car?

What, you’re angry that a disabled person is entitled to benefits and motability car. A motability car is not free, it is paid with the mobility part of the adp/pip, plus the advance payment that you pay as well.

and why are you writing mental disabilities with like ‘mental’. Are you saying mental disabilities, aren’t proper disabilities, or they’re not as worthy as physical ones?

I have been judged by the social security Scotland people to be entitled to a certain level of disability benefits, so I can hopefully cope better in life and maybe be a wee bit more independent. And I was entitled under pip before that, albeit I gained two points under adp because my needs have changed, for the worse, in some ways.

you have no idea how my ‘mental’ disabilities affect me. I am not able at all to work. I have tried, last time I tried I did a few hours the first day and then I had a complete meltdown the second day. Is it really worth someone’s life to force them to work.

everyone’s disabilities are different and affect them differently. Someone who has the same disability even can be totally affected differently.

youre being very ableist/disablist.

It was just a hard read for me, as I’m sure you can understand

Well, I’m sure you can also understand it’s hard to read that someone else who is disabled, thinks that because I have ‘mental’ disabilities I don’t seem to deserve/be entitled to disability benefits and that they think somehow a physical disability makes them more deserving.

There is nothing stopping you applying for PIP. Then, if you meet the criteria, you too can get a motability car.
