Stormy windy weather

Anyone else really stressed by three days of forecast wind?

It's the added uncertainty.

Really really wound up by it. Especially as it got a bit blowy last night too ahead of the storms.

Just got ex's glass table in and weighted down everything in his garden and tucked plant pots into corners.

Charging power banks. Must find some of the power banks I lost. Probably in the car.

Going to fill the flasks with hot water later. Oh joy of joys.

I'm not prepping but I'm very annoyed that it's going to curtail me going out for walks.
The weather has been dreadful fir weeks and just isn't letting up.
Roll on spring.

LilyRed · 16/02/2022 11:47

It is eerily quiet here now after being very windy last night, just raining. I moved the plant pots yesterday, but in the last storm the bin stores (Keter Boxes) got blown around everywhere and smashed the front of my garden store. There is no way of anchoring them.

I am dreading putting the bin out tonight as it will possibly be blown down the street!

MaggieMooh · 16/02/2022 12:24

Wind isn’t a problem for me. In fact I like to hear it blowing round the house. It’s a good excuse not to go out anywhere too. Now if it was a storm I would have a problem because the air pressure right before the storm breaks gives me a migraine.

Today's amber warning.

The wind is just starting here now after a very quiet morning - it has come out of nowhere. We live within the Amber warning area. The waves are coming up on the sea too.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2022 14:17

Good luck hope you get through ok.

I live on the North West Coast, inland by around 6 miles but the wind is really whipping up now.
I need to go the shop and I'm dreading it.
I've just done a tesco shop online but it won't be here till after 5pm tomorrow.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2022 15:07

Yes. Currently sat outside of school and the wind is lifting the car! I've prepped best I can, I've got the power banks on charge. I've got water. I've tied everything down.

Been up since wind started about 3.30. My mother is beside herself. (Very probably ND but been head in the sand about it all her life even though she probably knows in her heart)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2022 15:09

By the way, I'm in the Amber for today and tomorrow and the heavy snow on Friday

Mad times

felulageller · 16/02/2022 15:44

I like the stimulation of it but I'm a sensory seeker.

BoardLikeAMirror · 16/02/2022 16:50

I hate it. I'm terrified something will happen such as a tile blowing off the roof onto the neighbour's car - it's as much as I can do to say 'hello' to my neighbours or hand over a parcel - I hate complicated and interactions with people who you can't then hide away from and never see again.

BoardLikeAMirror · 16/02/2022 16:50

^ That should say 'complications' not 'complicated'

OliviaBond · 16/02/2022 16:53

We're in the amber zone for Eunice and I'm worried the house will get damaged. I saw earlier we may even move to a red warning yet Confused

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2022 17:34

OYBBK has started two threads on the weather board keeping track of warnings. And yes around Bristol Channel might turn to a red warning.

I always follow OYBBK's weather threads - they're brilliant.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2022 19:45

Always follow Kitten's threads too. She's amazing. So scary here in Whitley Bay. Again!! Happening so much like 4 storms in 4 months. We always seem to be in Amber or Red. Were it not for Brexit, I'd have buggered off to warmer climes by now.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 16/02/2022 19:49

I'm in Durham and it's blowing a gale. We had loads of trees over from storm Arwen the other week.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/02/2022 19:55

Ah Barrow, we are less than 20 miles from each other.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 16/02/2022 19:56

Ah Barrow, we are less than 20 miles from each other.

I know, we'll have to go to the Metrocentre 😄

duvetdayforeveryone · 16/02/2022 20:10

I am hating this windy weather. I don't like all the noises.

Crochetcacher · 16/02/2022 20:13

I find weather fascinating, but equally scary, I’m in an amber area for Friday (South Wales) with rumours of a possible red warning. Must remember to charge the power banks too, good suggestion.

AfterSchoolWorry · 16/02/2022 20:18

I love storms, noisy wind, thunder and lightening. It stimulates a dopamine response in my brain.

But I don't love that people get hurt and property is damaged.

Lovemusic33 · 16/02/2022 20:26

I like extreme weather, but I don’t like things blowing around outside, we have no street lights so I can’t see what’s blowing around, wind has just picked up here and it’s bin day tomorrow so everyone’s rubbish will be blowing around and I’m worried my car will get hit by a wheely bin.

Dd finds the weather stressful so I am prepping for power cuts, charging power packs and finding torches.

LilyRed · 16/02/2022 20:40

I don't mind the wind or storms, but all the transport here has been stopped as the wind along the firth of Clyde gets a bit mad - the CalMac ferries are not running to Cumbrae and Arran until at least tomorrow, not sure about Rothesay and Dunoon. No trains from Largs. I am sorry for all the people whose lives are disrupted. No power outages in the local area yet thankfully.

The wind is still blowing a hoolie with big gusts. The way the storm just suddenly started was quite mad, normally we get big seas the day before.

Lots more rain, I am so sick of the garden being a quagmire, it looks like a bog - maybe I should just turn it into a wetland garden!
