My Loop earplugs arrived 😃

I bought the Quiet variety. I wore them to the shops this morning.

They work! I never expected them to as I've tried earplugs before, but these are brilliant 😃 the music instore was loud, but it sounded very dampened and far away. I could just about hear dh's voice if he was standing next to me. All the other noise - people chatting, beeping noises etc. - was very difficult to hear.

For the first time ever I felt relaxed and happy in a store. I literally wasn't bothered one bit by it. I could concentrate on what I was buying and my brain could function.

I'd certainly recommend these 😃

I'm curious about these but found Flare Calm to be no help at all, so I'm dithering.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 29/04/2022 12:12

What sort of noise did Flare Calm reduce @EmmaH2022 did they help at all? I looked at those too before getting my ones, but some of the reviews weren't great so I went with the Loops.

I'd say you are still aware of the sound, but it's further away from your brain if you know what I mean. The decibels are less and they cut down on background noise as well. I can still hear what awful song is playing in Tesco, but it's not invasive or loud. My brain can ignore it more easily and I don't get the stress response.

I found Flare Calm didn't reduce any noise tbh.

I've been thinking about getting some of these for my son for when he starts secondary school this year. He will feel uncomfortable with his very obvious defenders that he currently uses. This is really useful info OP, thank you!

Oh god these sound just what I need for mouth noises. I'm really struggling to eat with anyone except my dc. Can you still hear conversation if you were sat at a table with people you do want to hear?

Kat1953 · 01/05/2022 12:17

Thank you for posting - I've been in a really noisy environment all day every day the last few days, my headphones weren't helping. Just ordered a pair of the quiet ones 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Kat1953 · 01/05/2022 12:18

@AlternativelyWired yes, looking at the Loop website they do 3 different types that filter out at 3 different levels - some are designed to still allow you to hold conversations. These have additional bits you can add to make them even quieter when you need them to be.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 01/05/2022 20:36

I just got the bog standard cheapest version - Quiet I think. You can still hear someone's voice if you're standing near them and they're speaking clearly.

@AlternativelyWired I got the loop "quiet" version - it does help if you have misophonia, which it sounds like you might have. I use them when I'm eating with people and found it helps - it just makes it bearable. You can still hear conversation etc.

EmmaH2022 · 08/05/2022 14:16

Does anyone have suggestions for things like Flare Calm eg stuff that should reduce background noise?
thanks

Kat1953 · 08/05/2022 14:37

I think flare calm is the basically the same thing but a different brand

Loop looks like an earbud though? Whereas Flare Calm is like a lining with a hole in it.

that sounds mad,
i know

Justhereforthis · 08/05/2022 16:11

I always get confused by the charges from overseas - will these attract additional fees?

Kat1953 · 08/05/2022 16:20

@EmmaH2022 from what I saw loop ones have a hole in them too

EmmaH2022 · 08/05/2022 21:20

Loop looks like a plug though

Flare calm is ...a flimsy silicone lining.

no idea what to try. Should I just go out with standard silicone earplugs in, lol.
