I need a little help with thinking of a boat themed song

I'm getting married in 3 weeks on an island at a water park
I will be arriving at the island on a little boat, from across the lake, with the rest of the bridal party and need a song to be played as this happens.

I like Stevie Wonder "Sunshine of my Life" (not boat themed but love the song) DP says it's too cheesy and has suggested a boat song such as Otis Reading "Dock of the Bay" (which I quite like) or, as a joke, Celine Dion (boak) Titanic song

Any ideas?

I also need a going down the aisle song, preferably not classical as we're not really into classical music. It'll be outside on the island under a marquee and not at all religious.
I wanted Whitney "I have nothing" but, again, DP says too cheesy.

We have a 'leaving the alter' song which will be The Beatles "All you need is love" and our 1st dance song is going to be Andy Williams "Can't take my eyes off you"

It's so difficult. We have never had 'a song' and we have quite different tastes.

Does he like White Lion? We had "Til Death do us Part" when we walked into the venue after the wedding. Not boat-related but so pretty.

Row row row your boat
Gently down the steam
Belts off, trousers down,
Isn't life a scream!

?

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH What about the Imperial March???? You know the one....Star Wars.. The bit where Darth Vader walks on.

Sorry Fruitbatlings....

Will try to think properly now and find an actual constructive suggestion.

If I were getting married again, I would walk down the aisle to "Love is Full of Wonderful colours" by the Icicle works - fab intro and great chorus.

My sister came in to the intro to "Bitter Sweet Symphony" which was just long enough for a shortish aisle in a hotel.

It sounds like a lovely day!

Marthas harbour ?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:22

oooh just saw TTMJs reply

Geocentric · 27/08/2009 15:23

A friend had an instrumental version of Carly Simon's Let the River Run which sounded great walking up the aisle.

Your dp could wear a kilt and then: Skye boat song

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:28

Or you could go with a californian theme

surfin usa

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:31

or
go with a hawaii theme

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:33

I quite like this one!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:33

Second the Onedin line theme.

Anyone remember "Dancing with the Captain" Paul Nicholas?

. . . and there is always "Frigging in the rigging," for when the party really gets going.

BalloonSlayer · 27/08/2009 15:42

Here you go

Will get the party boogying

Fruitbatlings · 27/08/2009 15:43

Found a great version of Pirates of the Caribbean on acoustic guitar

By the way, There have been some really fantastic ideas (and some plain crazy ones - you bunch of loons). I'm so pleased I started this thread

I think I'd really like MadreInglese's suggestion (Sea of Love) for the aisle song.

and Love Boat/Pirates of Caribbean for the boat song.

You could have all your music nautically themed for the day

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/08/2009 15:54

Balloonslayer the stripey topped dancer is oddly hypnotic on that one

Fruitbatlings · 27/08/2009 15:58

Yes, bad Kitten, why not!

Definitely going to have All you Need is Love by The Beatles for leaving the alter (love the scene from Love Actually) , not very nautical so will bend the rules slightly

Might need two Boat songs. The wedding organiser at the venue said it needs to be about 5 mins long and Love boat only 1:44......
