He was lovely still but he's grown his hair again into a shoulder length curly bob (obviously that's him on the right, he's not changed that much!). It's not good on an ageing man. His voice is still amazing though. Shame about the RnB style album he's done

serenity · 23/05/2009 00:36

Lots of bands I love, but my absolute favourites are Depeche Mode and Crowded House (I know they don't quite go, and nobody ever gets the CH thing, but never mind )

Tortington · 23/05/2009 00:55

i lurve ch! - well the greatest hits album anyway.

foos - obviously

but at the moment i am completely and utterly in love with KOL

i am even a facebook fan and have been on their website - and thats so not me.

tigerdriver · 23/05/2009 00:59

the E Street Band.

harleyd · 23/05/2009 01:03

i still cant pick one

im torn between muse, radiohead, the cure, pink floyd, pearl jam, the clash....oh jesus i could list all nite and still not pick

Bonneville · 23/05/2009 01:28

Without a doubt Muse.

thumbwitch · 23/05/2009 01:30

am too old for this thread, probably. Fave band of all time shows no fashion sense whatsoever - Queen. Then Dire Straits, then Manic Street Preachers.

Marthasmama · 23/05/2009 03:19

Ah, but Muse are just the modern day Queen!

EachPeachPearMum · 23/05/2009 04:59

marthasmama I love that sentence!

we always call muse 'pomp rock'.... yes queen were the original pomp rock band

serenity -ch are brilliant

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 23/05/2009 05:11

Oooohhhh....

The Red Hot Chillies, Bloc Party,

But looking through my collection, most of my stuff appears to be singly named artists! Another thread maybe.

pinkpoodle · 23/05/2009 05:16

At the moment K.O.L and the script

like the
killers to but their old stuff,

when i was younger it was Wham, Guns & Roses

like Beautiful South

I dont suppose i have a fave really just like lots of different music

Portofino · 23/05/2009 05:38

Hard one! Probably REM overall. But then Depeche Mode, and Pink Floyd.....

harleyd · 23/05/2009 09:02

i cant believe ive just read wham and guns n roses in the same sentence

KnickKnack · 23/05/2009 09:44

I can't believe I've just read Wham on a thread titled "your favourite band"

retiredgoth2 · 23/05/2009 10:19

....these threads usually flush me out in the end.

In the 80s I would have answered by saying Joy Division, The Smiths, REM, and Husker Du. I would have added the caveat that The Sisters of Mercy were my favourite live band....

I sort of liked The Wedding Present in the 80s. I gues they were a bit too cheerful for my tastes. Though memorably I saw them live in Pompey on the night of the 1987 hurricane...

...but it wasn't until the late 90s and the advent of the interweb that I rediscovered the joys of the Mighty Gedge.

Now I evangelise with the zeal of the late convert. Behold! Weddoes circa 2008

ToeRag · 23/05/2009 10:24

Fave band of all time?
The Cure? Maybe.
Or The Doors
er Steeleye Span
Led Zep

Mostly The Levellers. because they know how to throw a paaaaarty!

Ahfuckit, depends on the day of the week etc.

ToeRag · 23/05/2009 10:25

Bugger, forgot I was in a Douglas Adams name. Tis Mollyroger here, as i know it's far more fun to judge music tastes when you know the person involved

janeite · 23/05/2009 14:51

Pmsl at the Weddoes being cheerful. Phew - glad it's not the Take That one: it terrified me!

Watching your link now. Yum.

nettie · 23/05/2009 15:03

(Whispers)U2

or if I'm feeling 12 Duran Duran.

Going now, while you all call Bono a twatin my defence (crap music taste) Adam Clayton is a complete GOD!

heartofgold · 23/05/2009 17:20

you should have whispered that more quietly nettle - we all heard you

Thunderduck · 23/05/2009 20:18

AC/DC

AnathemaDevice · 27/05/2009 21:07

Manic Street Preachers. Seen them live 30 odd times, met DH through being a fan, gave birth listening to Everything Must Go, named DS after Nicky Wire... That's quite sad, isn't it? Not listened to the new album yet though, bit difficult to concentrate and give it the attention it needs with a 7 week old around!

Starbear · 27/05/2009 21:16

Paul Weller, Jam, Style Council basically anything he does. Specials Madness UB40. Can you date me by this list

LissyGlitter · 27/05/2009 21:39

anathemadevice Same here! I was singing Faster at the top of my voice as they did the section to get DD out! DP beats me on the manics fan front, he actually saw them with Richey in, I'm a latecomer I'm afraid. Still haven't heard the new album because I want to be able to concentrate on it when I hear it.

I need to think of a good slogan to spraypaint on a shirt that will fit over a bump, I reckon the full "old manics" look would be great when preggers! I'm working on DP to make him let me call this child Richard James Edward then our surname, but he's refusing up to now. Spoilsport!
