Oh god I miss The Smiths. I think they are the most under rated British band. EVER.

.....I LOVED the Smiths...

First heard them when a friend brought a tape of the first Peel session into 6th form the day after it was broadcast....

(miserable lie, handsome devil, and, I think, hand in glove)

...saw them twice. Once in 1983 when they were fresh off the press and wonderful, again in 85 when they were fine but the support (James) were a marvel.

I am, I know, an appalling geek.

...it's fun though...

Can't believe nobody's mentioned this timeless classic yet. When you say it's going to happen now...well, when exactly do you mean?

....and that song, "Rubber Ring", with the lyrics about the future..

....they were never really glum, though. I had Joy Division albums for REAL glum.

....the camp humour was always to the fore with the Smiths.
