Absolute radio have recently done a countdown of the most popular Britpop (and some Manchester) tracks. There was a lot of good songs, but there is a few lesser known songs that I love.
Mine are:
Everything will flow by Suede.
Alma Matters by Morrissey
Get higher by Black grape
Corpses by Ian Brown
You can talk to me by Seahorses
Coffee and TV by Blur
5:19 and 'Untouchable' by Rialto
This is Hardcore by pulp
Stand by me by oasis (until the Halifax advert 😡)

Sleeper really are great - I wish I had spent more time on them and less on Oasis at the time. I'm having a Britpop weekend in a couple of weeks where I see Sleeper one night and Gene the next.

Favourite songs from that era include:
London can you wait? Gene
Statuesque - Sleeper
On and On - Longpigs
Showgirl- The Auteurs (and Chinese Bakery)
To the birds - Suede
Town - Northern Uproar
Happy Shopper - 60ft Dolls

Probably not hardly known but I love Babies by Pulp

TiramisuTastesDreamy · 30/08/2025 19:36

How high - Charlatans
Loved a bit of Cast back in the day too. Sandstorm especially. Saw them opening for Oasis last month and danced my socks off.

Summergarden · 30/08/2025 19:36

Omg I’m going to play some of these soon, so much nostalgia!

Metal Mickey and so Young by Suede are a couple of their underplayed brilliant songs, as is the Asphalt World.

Thanks - I somehow managed to get tickets to Gene at The Brudenell, Leeds while in Japan on 4G signal. Have you seen that they are doing more dates? https://www.geneofficial.com/live/

I saw them in 1996 - phenomenal.

Slight Return - The Bluetones

This was the first song on a mixtape a boy I fancied made me back in the day. It has a special place in my musical memories.

so many great tracks mentioned on this thread. I’m making myself a Spotify nostalgia “mixtape” later.

Rialto were support for Sleeper last night.

Can anyone remember this:

The singer from Rialto is even better looking at 57 then he was in the 90s!

@MakingPlans2025 Different Class is one of my favourite albums ever. The weird thing is, Common People is the least good song on the album. All good songs. Same goes for Great when you're straight by black grape.

I snogged him once, Louis. In Tunbridge Wells. When he was in Kinky Machine.
